We were lucky to catch up with Ill Minds recently and have shared our conversation below.
ILL, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
We make music for fun. We try to express ourselves through our music for our fans to enjoy. This is why we are an independent music group as opposed to signing with a label that may want to manipulate our style. The best music comes from the soul and it shouldn’t be altered by outside forces.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
iLL Minds is an independent music group originally from New Jersey, USA and now expanded to Florida. We make timeless music that crosses multiple genres, including hip-hop, rap, rock music and more!
Our latest songs are now available on more than 100 platforms worldwide, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and several other popular music apps.
One of the most exciting accomplishments we are excited about is our recent growth on YouTube, where we have more than 230K subscribers and nearly 3 million total views!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities or skills that we feel are most important when making great music are: hard work, dedication, and education. Without these three you will have to be extremely lucky to make it in today’s music industry.
You have to be willing to put in the time and effort without the option of giving up on your dreams. And you must take the time to educate yourself to create quality music and video content, along with learning how to best market your music.
