Meet Jenna Nord

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenna Nord. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jenna, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey of turning inward and reconnecting with the core of why I create. My art is an extension of my heart, intuition, and sensually creative primal origin—a raw and authentic expression of who I am. When the noise of the world becomes too overwhelming or comparison creeps in, I intentionally shut it out. I remind myself that my work is not about measuring up to anyone else but about creating from a deeply personal and unique space. This practice of grounding in my truth helps me quiet the self-doubt that comparison often amplifies.

What ultimately silences the imposter syndrome, however, is returning to the voices that matter most: my clients. The heartfelt testimonials, the moments where someone is moved to tears, or the realization that my work has profoundly impacted their lives, these are the anchors of my purpose. Knowing that my art holds the power to validate, transform, and heal for others eradicates the whispers of doubt. In those moments, I see the value of what I create reflected back to me, and I’m reminded that I am exactly where I am meant to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My work is dedicated to capturing the uncensored, raw, and vividly alive internal and external landscapes of women and their transformational journeys. I specialize in crafting deeply personal and unique photography experiences, including one-on-one women’s retreats like *Primal Medicine Ceremony* and week-long destination retreats like *REVEAL Puerto Rico*, co-created with Leah Lovelight. These experiences are far more than photography sessions—they are immersive journeys that ask profound questions, guiding my clients to reconnect with themselves, celebrate their unique stories, and create lasting visual anchors of their essence and evolution.

Beyond retreats, I offer birth story and motherhood photography, as well as *Nord Weddings*, a wedding photography service created in partnership with my life partner, singer-songwriter and performance artist Matthew Nord. I am also deeply committed to selling my motherhood and birth art commercially, with pieces that illuminate the tenderness and strength of women during these sacred moments. These works allow collectors to connect with and honor the universal beauty of motherhood and birth.

What sets working with me apart is that I don’t just create photos—I design transformative experiences. Each session is rooted in deep dialogue, inviting clients to uncover layers of truth, sensuality, and strength. The result is artwork that serves as both a mirror and a lasting anchor, fostering profound self-discovery and empowerment. It’s a process that transcends imagery to celebrate the client’s inner and outer worlds in a way that is truly unique and deeply meaningful.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

**Three Qualities, Skills, or Areas of Knowledge Most Impactful in My Journey:**

1. **Emotional Intelligence and Connection**
My psychology degree with an emphasis on child development, coupled with the profound experience of being a mother to four incredible children, has deeply informed my ability to connect with clients on a human level. Understanding the nuances of emotions, body language, and interpersonal relationships allows me to create a safe and open space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. This skill helps me craft deeply personal and transformative photography experiences that go far beyond the surface.

2. **Creativity Rooted in Authenticity**
I’ve learned to trust my intuition and create from a place of authenticity—my heart and sensually creative core. This ensures that every piece of art or session I deliver resonates with truth, both for me and my clients. Staying grounded in my unique perspective has helped me avoid the comparison trap, focusing instead on creating work that feels alive and meaningful.

3. **Storytelling Through Art**
My journey has been shaped by my ability to tell stories visually, whether it’s capturing the raw power of birth, the intricate beauty of motherhood, or the deeply personal journeys of my clients. My work isn’t just about taking photos; it’s about creating anchors that hold meaning and serve as reflections of life’s most transformational moments.

**Advice for Those Early in Their Journey:**

– **Develop Emotional Awareness:** Whether through formal education or personal growth, invest in understanding people. Practice empathy and actively listen to others’ stories—it will shape how you connect and the depth you can bring to your work.

– **Trust Your Unique Vision:** Avoid the comparison narratives that are so easy to fall into. Your journey and perspective are what make your work stand out. Create art that aligns with your truth and allows you to honor your own voice.

– **Refine Your Craft Through Storytelling:** Focus on the “why” behind what you do. For me, it’s about capturing moments that transform lives. Find what drives you, and let that shape the stories you tell, whether through art, photography, or another medium.

Ultimately, stay present and committed to the growth process—both yours and that of the people you serve.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Miranda July’s *On All Fours* has been a profound source of inspiration in my life, challenging and expanding the way I perceive creativity, vulnerability, and connection. Her ability to intertwine raw emotion with bold, unfiltered expression resonates deeply with my own artistic journey. This work has served as a reminder to stay open—to explore the edges of my limitless self and embrace the wonder of what lies just beyond my comfort zone. It fuels my commitment to crafting art that is alive, visceral, and unafraid to ask deeper questions of myself and others.

This openness pairs beautifully with my *antevasin femme* view of the world—a perspective that balances curiosity and wisdom, always teetering at the threshold of what is known and what is yet to be discovered. Like July’s work, my art celebrates the complexity and multidimensionality of women, honoring their raw, uncensored landscapes and transformational experiences. *On All Fours* reminds me to embrace the messy, the daring, and the beautifully imperfect, not only in my work but in my understanding of life and self. It has been a guiding force in creating a space where women can reconnect with their own boundless power and sensual creativity.
