Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Yen with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is largely influenced by my mother, who has been a tremendous role model for me. As a single parent, she dedicated herself to providing for our family, often working seven days a week to ensure we had everything we needed. Her commitment to hard work instilled in me the values of perseverance, responsibility, and determination. Watching her navigate the challenges of life with such resilience has inspired me to adopt a strong work ethic in my own endeavors.

I specialize in providing zero gravity pedicure and manicure services, which offer a unique and relaxing experience for my clients. One of the most exciting aspects of my work is witnessing the transformation in my clients as they settle into the zero gravity chair. They come in stressed and leave feeling rejuvenated, which is incredibly fulfilling for me. What sets my services apart from traditional salons is not just the innovative zero gravity experience, but also my commitment to using only non-toxic and organic products. I believe that self-care should not only be enjoyable but also safe for both my clients and the environment. This dedication to quality and wellness is at the heart of my brand.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey as a nail tech, three qualities that have been most impactful are my attention to detail, dedication to client satisfaction, and commitment to continuous learning. Being thorough with nail care ensures high-quality service, while prioritizing my clients happiness fosters strong relationships. Additionally, staying updated on industry trends helps me refine my skills. For those starting out, I advise focusing on these qualities: pay close attention to details, seek feedback, and commit to ongoing education. This approach will help you grow and stand out in the industry.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client values self-care and seeks a relaxing, high-quality nail service. They are open to trying new techniques, especially my zero gravity experience, and prioritize non-toxic and organic products. Good communication is essential; I appreciate clients who share their preferences and feedback. Ultimately, my ideal client enjoys the pampering process and values the attention to detail I provide.
