We recently connected with Jennifer Clair and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose through a series of synchronicities, through having a strong faith, and through trusting in the people who guided me along the way. My purpose was revealed through astrology, but I would not have seen it without being led to it. From a very young age, I have been devoted to my spirituality (aka seeking God and trying to understand why I am here), but instead of finding my purpose in a church or from my society, I allowed life itself to teach me. I was passionate about traveling and experiencing new things because I knew that the more I experienced, the better I would know myself. I believe that God works through people and everyday circumstances to guide us to our purpose – so we have to be paying attention. But I also believe that timing is everything. This is because you may not be ready to accept your purpose or understand why your purpose is what it is until you’ve experienced enough of life; until you’ve matured to a point where you can recognize and appreciate it.
For me, having my astrological (natal) chart in front of me illuminated and solidified everything I felt in my heart that I was meant to do. So, it was, above all, validating. It gave me the conviction and confidence to stand for something and to live my life in my own way. Astrology can tell us so much about ourselves, but we still have to be willing to take risks, make mistakes, and fail before we understand the deeper meaning of it all. Then, we can accept, with a humble attitude, all the instructions laid out before us.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
There are two things that have made me who I am and led me to where I am: surrender and neutrality. I never knew I would become a professional astrologer, but I always asked for the highest best outcome and surrendered to the idea of service wherever and however I was called to serve. This is why I’ve experienced a lot of jobs before becoming an astrologer and spiritual counselor. I understood the importance of “surrendering to what shows up.” I’ve never been afraid to let go of the past and try new things. I’ve also recognized how being neutral about something can lead you to your greatest passion. Sometimes, the things we feel most strongly about “in the moment,” are not best for us long term, so we have to adopt some level of humility. We have to be able to recognize that what seems uninteresting at the time, might end up being something we are really talented at and that could help a lot of people.
I would like to help as many people gain clarity about their lives through astrology as I can. I am most passionate about one-on-one counseling and my main objective is to have more people know about my work and why astrology matters – why it can be one of the most self-validating personal growth tools there is.
Because I am also passionate about education, I provide free YouTube videos and blogs and I teach astrology classes in my community and online.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
-Trust life. Don’t get discouraged just because you fail, make a mistake, or have to change.
-Learn to be adaptable. Recognize there is not just “one” thing you’re here to do. You have choices and talents that can be used in multiple fields and in multiple ways.
-Think outside the box. Always allow your faith to provide you with solutions you did not know existed (this requires having faith in something).
-If I could say a fourth, it would be: have patience with the results and do not give up.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My faith. My faith in God / the Universe has always been my most helpful asset in overcoming challenges and developing new skills when I’ve found myself at a dead end. I always loved the saying, “When God closes a window, He opens a door.” Every ending is a new beginning. This simple belief gave me the resilience and tenacity to keep going when I felt like giving up. It also reassured me that if I’m still here, I’m meant to be doing something! There have been so many times I have had to “recreate my life,” rediscover a new part of me, or adopt a new identity so I could keep moving forward, that after I while, I just got used to the fact that it is not my career that defines me, but my deeper connection to Source.
Every challenge that I have overcome has taught me that life goes on… and I go on. We are always evolving and the quicker we can accept where we are, the faster we can get to where we want to go.
Secondly, I would say having a sense of humor is key. Being able to laugh at myself and not take life so seriously has really helped me to not get discouraged.
