Meet Zillenigalz

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zillenigalz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Zillenigalz, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

Persisting despite haters and nay-sayers has been a journey of self-discovery and resilience for us. At the start, it was tough—especially when we realized not everyone around us was as supportive as we’d hoped. It’s hard not to take that personally, but we learned that not everyone will see your vision right away—and that’s okay.

What kept us going was shifting our focus to building a genuine community of people who get it. Now we’re intentional about creating content for those who are truly interested, engaged, and enthusiastic. Seeing the energy from that has been so motivating.

Ultimately, we’ve learned that not everyone will clap for you, but if you keep showing up authentically, your people will find you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

We’re a group of four close friends who first connected in our early 20s. From the moment we met, our friendship has been filled with endless laughter and unforgettable memories. Over the years, we’ve shared experiences that range from hilarious to downright unbelievable. As time passed (and as our frontal lobes started to fully develop), we noticed that every time we got together it felt like we were living out the plot of a movie.

We began to joke about how wild our lives were, and how “Life is just a lot—period!” This catchphrase became our little inside joke, and eventually, we started to entertain the idea of starting a podcast. The idea floated around for a while, never quite turning into anything serious, until one fateful GNO. During an Uber ride to an event, we struck up a conversation with our driver. He was intrigued by our energy and connection and asked what we did for a living. On a whim, we decided to manifest our dreams and told him we had a podcast. When he pulled up Spotify and tried to find us, we knew we had to make it happen for real. That moment of spontaneous manifestation was the push we needed to finally turn our idea into reality.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One skill that was impactful on our journey was organization. We had to coordinate our schedules to have meetings to discuss our content ideas. Along with organization, we had to remain consistent. We had to show up to all of our meetings and post content regularly to build an audience. The most impactful quality on our journey was bravery. We had to take a risk and put ourselves in a position to be judged. The idea that our content would not be received well was scary, but we realized that discomfort is necessary for success.

We would advise content creators early in their journey to schedule time to think of new content ideas. Setting aside a few hours throughout the week to organize your ideas will help in the development of your brand. If your content is being posted on Instagram, we suggest using an app to preview your posts and schedule several posts at once. Above all, we encourage anyone interested in content creation to believe in your ideas and trust your judgement. You are the brand and you should to be proud of it!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

As a group we definitely have grown and realized not everything has to be perfect. We have learned to take a step back and not always feel the need to have everything figured out. Patience and trusting the process is key, and then eventually everything will fall into place. Finding a balance between working hard and taking care of our mental health has been the biggest win for us.
