Meet Tia Talbott

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tia Talbott. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TIA below.

TIA, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I am proud to say I have my work ethic from my amazing parents and brother. My Dad a police officer and my mother a school teacher. Witnessing their dedication and resilience to accomplish and make a better life for their family was truly inspirational. Their tenacity and drive for success was the blueprint to my resilience today. Especially, my little brother Daven that I lost last year after a battle with cancer. My brother had his own designer vintage reselling business. Through the chemotherapy, surgery and the pain I can only imagine what he was going through, and through it all , he still pushed through to accomplish his goals. I watched my brother the same day after coming home from his surgery, weak and out of breath determined to complete an order to get delivered to his customer. His strength, drive, an dedication to what he loved was a true example for me to keep going, no matter how hard things may seem. I remind myself, if he had the strength to get through the inevitable, then so can I.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, what I think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey are:
1. Business Management
2. Marketing
3. Floral Design

For a new business, I experienced many aspects of business that many do not tell you, and to do research and learn the essentials of business is very important. Do research on your industry. Study your competitors in regards to what you like, or what would you do differently, and apply what you believe will work for you. Managing a business is a process, especially when you’re beginning a new industry with no guidance. Financial literacy is essential as well with understanding your budget and profit margin.
In regards to Marketing, I learned early on how important it is to implement marketing into your business as this is the way others will know about your business. We have the advantage with social media as one click can potentially bring in a new customer. However, there are many other people and potential clients that are not aware of your business. Marketing plays a big part on getting the public familiar with your services. I have found that any in person marketplace, or event to present my business and bouquets is a great way to network and make new connections with new clients. Every client I have to date was a referral from a past client or event. I have a theory that “Every opportunity, is an opportunity”. An opportunity, to make a new connection, and open the door to a new venture. As an introvert, I have learned if you are going to market your business, you have to step out of your comfort zone and to make every moment worth it. You never know the connection, influence or inspiration you can bring to others.

As for Floral design, I’m everything we do and learn, comes with technique. There are many components to learning about flowers how to properly care and construct a bouquet. With many classes and much experience, your craft grows. To learn your product and industry you are in

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Gorgeous Bouquet is always looking for new connections and to collaborate with Event planners, wellness brands, photographers, corporate and nonprofit businesses.
