Meet Charles Galin

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Charles Galin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Charles , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I have had a suicidal past and I feel thats what grew into cherishig life more and believeing in people tryihng to just get by.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an Actor and a Drag King alongside starting to become a movement director. What is most special about it is that I get to experience what art my art means to me to others. I perform anywhere I can. New shows coming everymonth and find me on my website and instagram.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Listening, reacting and trying things I wanted to try. Dont care what others think of you, there will always be people who will look down on you. You live your life and they live theirs.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Yes, struggling that I care about my weight and how I look and still comparing myself to light skinned skinny people who get more jobs than I do.

I am trying to let that go.

I love my body and love that I take care of me.
