Meet Jess Brownsberger

We were lucky to catch up with Jess Brownsberger recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jess, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Being a mom honestly gave me the most confidence in the world… I figured if I can bring a human earthside, I can do anything! I’m complimented often on how well I handle 3 kids and the one thing I’ve learned is that If you act like you know what you’re doing, people believe you.

All my days are not perfect with three kids – there are tantrums, a lot of crying, and it’s truly chaos 75% of the time… but I try to find little things throughout my day to boost my mood in those moments that I know won’t last forever.

Self-esteem is a tricky one. Bringing all of my highs and lows as a mom to the internet has helped boost some of that and also tear me down. There are so many things that are controversial in motherhood and worrying about other’s judging the way you parent is a battle I am constantly facing. I’m thankful for my mom friends that I rely on daily to relate to and go through the highs and lows with. Finding people that are in the same phase of life as you, who understand all the aspects of what you are going through, is the best form of encouragement I’ve ever had.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a stay at home mom to 3 girls. My first baby was born with a heart defect and had open heart surgery last year.
The process and intensity of having a medically complex child is something I don’t wish upon anyone to have to go through.

I never intended to stay home this long but the way things worked out for us it only made sense. I started content creating on tiktok as a source of passive income and now do full time content creating, brand partnerships, and micro-influencer based collabs to help out financially for our family of 5.

I recently launched my own t-shirt brand that releases funny, political, holiday, and trendy graphic tee’s as another way to spread awareness to things that are important to me. I hope to slowly begin giving portions of proceeds to different charities that help heart families just like mine.

I am slowly working towards launching my very own podcast…. shhh…. It’s definitely a work in progress but will hopefully become a place for all of us average suburban moms to share, connect, and feel a little less alone by talking through small aspects of everyday mom life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Be real. Chances are there are a LOT more people out there feeling what you are feeling and going through similar experiences. It’s always better to have a small community than none at all.

2. Be consistent. With your friends, your children, and your family. Even showing up online consistently has helped me find people who are in my boat, that share similar beliefs and morals. I’ve found even sometimes strangers on the internet can be more supportive than your closest friends.

Be bold. If you say something online/to a family member/to your children, mean it and have confidence in doing things your own way if you are going a little against the grain. Don’t back down. People will always have something to say but be true to yourself & it’ll take you far.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am always down to collaborate with brands! Typically any brand relating to motherhood is what does the best in my my content world – but I’m slowly starting to look into partnering and working with more podcasters, political (unbiased) media outlets, and nonprofits!
