Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deja Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
First and foremost I am a woman of god , secondly I am a model, an entrepreneur, a motivational blogger and the CEO of DE’JERI. Lastly, I work at an Amazon fulfillment center on the weekend. I became an entrepreneur in 2020 when I opened up my boutique called Stylezbydejj .Since then, I have now opened up my own Fashion brand named DE’JERI. Not wanting to completely get rid of Stylezbydejj, I have now merged it with DE’JERI making it no longer a boutique but just a collection under DE’JERI. I started bossalerts in 2022 in an effort to help upcoming entrepreneurs but now I run it as a motivational and spiritual blog now called lovewithinco. Working at amazon has been very beneficial, my current position is the assigned learning ambassador to the visually impaired associates . The most exciting thing about all that I do is being able to step outside the box society has put on young women in my generation . I am shaking up the culture showing young women my age , younger and older, that we are more than just our bodies . Women have so much more to offer and bring to the table than just looks . I’m bringing back beauty and brains one day at a time .DE’JERI is about to take over the fashion world with its uniqueness . My mission is to allow my generation to acknowledge the fact that you don’t have to be half naked to make a statement . Class goes a long way , it actually gets you further. My focus is to be the opposite of the culture and bring back respect and integrity amongst the millennials.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that were and are still most impactful in my journey is first consistency. Staying consistent is the key to success for anything you do and everything you do. Secondly, have patience because great things take time. Lastly, you have to be self-motivated. Meaning throughout your journey you’re not looking for anyone outside of yourself to validate you. Seeking validation from other people is a road to disaster. All of these qualities take time to build and acquire, its something you work at every day so have grace on yourself if you’re not there yet. Keep going no matter what, believe in yourself at all times and don’t rush your process. Slow and steady wins the race, sometimes being the last one standing is better than being the first one to win.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The number one person in my life who has been the most helpful in my journey is GOD. He has been working on me, building me, preparing me and restoring me. He is the reason why I have what I have and why I think the way I do, he is truly amazing. Seeking him more has been the best decision I’ve made. No, this journey is not completely easy but it’s definitely worth it. He gives me the strength and favor to overcome every challenge, every obstacle, every opposition and every trial & tribulation. The number one quality that was very hard but very essential for me to learn was patience. As stated before you have to work at it every day, but if it wasn’t for him I would still be trying to rush my process instead of gaining everything I need to gain from every season and trying my best to apply it to my journey. He is why I am who I am today.
