Hi Untethered Voyages, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
In 2023, Wendy embarked on a transformative journey by enrolling in a travel planning accelerator. A key component of the program was mindset development, which involved daily journaling practices. Each morning, Wendy focused on gratitude, affirmations, and visualization exercises.
Through consistent practice, Wendy has cultivated a more positive mindset. She’s replaced negative self-talk with affirmations and replaced limiting beliefs with empowering ones. She’s also developed healthy habits like listening to uplifting music and practicing mindfulness.
While entrepreneurship is undeniably challenging, Wendy is better equipped to handle setbacks. She can quickly shift her mindset from negative to positive, allowing her to persevere through difficult times.
We’re now integrating these positive practices into our daily business operations.

The all-inclusive nature of cruises eliminates the hassle of coordinating accommodations, meals, and entertainment. Cruise ships can even include meeting space, a/v equipment, coffee service, and a group coordinator at no additional cost. They take care of everything, so the host and the attendees can fully involve themselves in the experience. The ship itself becomes a dynamic venue, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Growth Mindset: While we both had some experience in tech startups and travel, we lacked expertise in marketing, sales, and social media. To quickly overcome these deficits, we invested in a marketing course and learned everything we could from Moni Oloyede of MO MarTech, a seasoned marketing professional. She helped us define our audience and create a strong go to market strategy. We’ve got so much to learn, and we are committed to investing in coaching and mentoring. We recommend that you embrace a learning mindset, seek mentorship, and continuously invest in your education and professional development.
Resilience: Starting a business is challenging, and setbacks are inevitable. It’s easy to get discouraged when your business isn’t growing as fast as you’d like. Keep putting in the work, say yes to new things (even if you have to figure them out on the fly), and stay true to your business! We’ve learned to cultivate resilience by focusing on what we can control, celebrating small wins, and seeking support from our network. We recommend that you build a strong support network, prioritize self-care, and recognize your achievements – even the small ones.
Experimentation: The business landscape is constantly evolving, and there’s lots of great business advice out there, so it’s important to be adaptable and willing to experiment. We’ve learned to test different strategies, pivot quickly when something isn’t working the way we want, and measure our results to identify what works best. We recommend starting small, iterating and improving your offerings, and embrace failure as a learning opportunity.
PS – don’t forget to add a healthy dash of fun to everything you do! Starting a business takes a ton of time and energy, and you need to enjoy the work you’re doing, and who you’re doing it with. Otherwise, it’s hard to stick with it!
