Meet Taylor Baresel

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Baresel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.

Taylor, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I have learned that being “the only one in the room” is a super power. Especially when you can practice the confidence to be that. People want to talk to you, and then you can ask them about themselves! You never know the connections you can make just by being yourself. Being yourself can also inspire others to be themselves, and the world needs more of that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a performance artist, flow artist, jewelry maker, and painter! As far as performance and flow goes, my goal is to bring flow arts into spaces it usually is not. I love to bring something different to every space. I specialize in fire flow, hula hoop, and silk fans!

As for my fine arts practice, I enjoy making jewelry for fairies, and visionary art. I hope to create a feeling of warmth in the heart of everyone who sees my work; flow and tangible.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I attribute so much of my success to being a service industry worker. Serving and bartending, especially in a fine dining setting, have helped me learn to speak to people and treat people.

I have also been dancing for 20 years now. That has certainly helped me be more graceful in my flow and performance art.

Finally, going to art school has helped me in every aspect of my life. I have the knowledge to make everything beautiful, and for me personally, beauty in everything is one of the greatest joys of life.

As far as my advice to those early in their journey; just follow your intuition. If you have a nagging feeling that you need to do something; do it. Even if other people don’t understand!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Both Radical Self Love and Magnetic Mindset by Gala Darling have truly set me on the correct path.

Loving yourself, making decisions for your own highest good, and not fearing judgement are the only way to attract the life you truly want.
