Meet Alicia Bartlett

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alicia Bartlett a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alicia, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I overcame a burnout by taking a side time for myself to focus on me. I would take candlelight bubble baths, watch movies, read books and treat myself to things that I liked. As well as I journaled all my thoughts and feelings.

Then when I felt better, I found my passion again and started doing nails.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m Alicia and I’m a Healthy Nail and Acrylic specialist. I own and founded LA Beauty Haus. At LA Beauty Haus we specialize in acrylic enhancements and waxing.

I have always had a love for the beauty industry but never thought that I could be successful in it. Then one day I told a friend that I was interested in doing nails. She told me that I would never be successful in it and I would never be as fast as how the techs were doing it.
My feelings were definitely hurt but it pushed me to go back to school and take Advanced Aesthetics.
Once I graduated in 2020 I started LA Beauty Haus. The LA is named after my daughter Lauren and myself Alicia ;).

Now 4 years later my love and passion for nails has grown intensely. I live, eat, sleep nails. I love helping people feel confident with their nails.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
To anyone beginning in the nail industry my advice would be to focus and master nail prep and application, continue with learning new skills and network!!!

I believe by doing those things you will go far.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking for folks to partner and/or collaborate with.

I would love to collaborate with other nail techs, who are driven and have the passion for the industry.

Anyone interested please email [email protected].
