Meet Kristine Reiner

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristine Reiner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristine, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I don’t think I’ve truly figured out or found my purpose yet; but I know I’m on the right path.

Life is about creating moments that turn into memories. For me that is captured through the time I spend investing into my passions. Like painting or drawing with my son every morning. To me staying purposeful means to act with a practiced tradition of gratitude. Making gratitude for this life, my privilege, my accessibility, my everything is appreciated. I am grateful to be living this life, no matter how hard it becomes.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

An American artist, Kristine Reiner specializes in contemporary rose paintings, with a deep love and appreciation for the creative process. The use of roses in Kristine’s work adds an aspect of dimension and texture while bringing attention to social issues. She incorporates them into her paintings to add a level of depth.

She specializes in teaching students of all ages to create beautiful paintings using roses as unique paintbrushes. Through her workshops, Kristine inspires creativity by demonstrating how to blend colors and textures in a way that mimics the organic beauty of nature. Her engaging approach encourages participants to explore their artistic abilities while connecting with the natural world, making art accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey I’m always appreciative of those that carried me when I could not walk on my own. Without community – family – LOVE, my art would not have continued to what it is today. Every class I teach inspires me to share more of these skills with others to pass along that shared visual story telling.

Advice I would share is: listen to those around you but move at your own speed. Everyone has an idea or new tip, but what you truly need to follow is your own passions. As creatives we tend to shelter the best parts of our originality because it’s “too unique” or “too weird”.

Art should be weird.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always looking to collaborate with other creatives. I’ve recently launched a mural business that only hires local artists, so if there are any creatives in the US wanting mural work – my inbox is always open! @siouxfallsmurals

I also publish and edit my own art magazine called KAMA. It features creatives of all sorts, sharing their personal experiences as they build up their talents. Sign up at www.kristinereiner.com/kama
