Meet Andrew Hosler

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrew Hosler a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

By surrounding myself with optimistic people – members of The _____ Experiment, the composers we work with, and everyone else!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

The _____ Experiment is a new music ensemble based in Chicago! I am a founding member, saxophonist, and artistic director of this group!

Our goal is to collaborate with composers to create accessible new music for various chamber instrumentation. Our core instruments include oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and saxophone but we have previously played with other instruments such as harp, piano, percussion, and plan to collaborate more in the future!

We have premiered over 30 works over the last 7 years with plans to premiere more in the future!

Future pieces we will premiere include works by Andrew Mead, Andrew McManus, Federico Pozzer, Anton Schukau, Martin Gaughan, among others!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Be nice and easy to work with.

Be open minded – don’t be afraid of new things.

Support others.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! Myself and The _____ Experiment are always looking for performers and composers to collaborate with! Email me at [email protected] to get in touch with me!
