We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Reyna Montgomery. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Reyna below.
Reyna , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
I have learned to own my uniqueness. Embracing myself can be one of the most valuable assets. I’ve learned that you may not always be appreciated by others in the workplace, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take away lessons to prepare you for the next steps in your career.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a Creative Director in the Entertainment Industry, I’m a Visionary Architect of Experiences
I’m the architect of immersive experiences, crafting narratives that captivate audiences across various platforms. My role involves overseeing the entire creative process, from concept development to final execution. I collaborate with a diverse team of creatives, including writers, designers, and producers, to bring innovative ideas to life.
What I Find Most Exciting:
* The Power of Storytelling: A well-crafted story can transport audiences to different worlds and evoke powerful emotions. I love using storytelling to create memorable experiences.
* The Collaborative Process: Working with talented and passionate people from diverse backgrounds is incredibly inspiring. Together, we push the boundaries of creativity and create groundbreaking work.
* The Impact of Entertainment: Entertainment has the power to shape culture, inspire social change, and bring joy to millions of people. It’s a privilege to be a part of this industry.
What’s New:
I’m currently exploring the potential of extended reality (XR) to create immersive and interactive experiences. By blending virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality, we can transport audiences to new dimensions and redefine the future of entertainment.
If you’re an entertainment company looking to elevate your brand and create innovative experiences, let’s collaborate and bring your vision to life.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey as a Creative Director are:
* Curiosity: An insatiable curiosity has driven me to constantly explore new ideas, technologies, and cultural trends. It’s what keeps my work fresh and innovative. To cultivate this, immerse yourself in various fields, from art and design to technology and science. Ask questions, challenge assumptions, and never stop learning.
* Empathy: Understanding the needs, desires, and emotions of your target audience is crucial for creating meaningful work. Practice active listening, put yourself in the shoes of others, and seek feedback. Empathy will help you build stronger connections with your audience and create more impactful campaigns.
* Adaptability: The creative industry is constantly evolving, and being able to adapt to change is essential. Embrace new challenges, be open to feedback, and be willing to pivot when necessary. To develop adaptability, experiment with different approaches, step outside your comfort zone, and learn from your mistakes.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely, I’m always open to collaborating with talented individuals!
I’m particularly interested in connecting with:
* Visionary Writers: Screenwriters and novelists with unique and compelling stories to tell.
* Skilled Cinematographers: Cinematographers who can capture stunning visuals and create a strong visual language.
* Talented Editors: Editors who can craft seamless narratives and elevate the storytelling.
