We were lucky to catch up with Camille Burthwright recently and have shared our conversation below.
Camille, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
People often wonder and ask how I remain so optimistic about things. No matter how difficult or challenging a situation or task is, I always maintained a level of optimism which would at times have people be in amazement. I had to really think a bit about where this optimism comes from because it comes so natural for me, especially since recently when I discovered the power of manifesting and how effective it can be. I believe my optimism comes from my experiences and the introspection that I practice daily. What I have noticed time and time again is that with the many obstacles that I have faced in my lifetime, one thing I always saw is that I overcame them. No matter how terrible at that moment I thought the situation was, or how hopeless I may I felt, there was always an event or a small action that solved whatever I was feeling hopeless or terrible about. When you really sit and think about things, life is balanced. There will always be a negative and positive in everything that we do, or experience and I look at the negative as the universe’s way to teach lessons once you are alive to receive them. Accept these lessons, learn from them so you can accept the positive that is bound to happen as life needs a balance. It is when we focus on the negative, is when the negative compounds as the lesson is not being accepted and learned from. Optimism is just an acceptance of the negative so the positive can be received. This philosophy has helped me along the way tremendously.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi, my name is Camille Burthwright and I am the Owner/CEO of an online hair brand by the name of Cheveux Luxury. We have been in business since 2019 and have slowly been growing to make our mark in the hair industry. Our product line ranges from Hair Clip Ins, I-Tips, Wigs, Ponytails, Tape Ins as well as Hair Bundled Wefts, made from premium hair that we have sourced ethically from donors in China and India. We pride ourselves in providing products for those that are beginners with hair extensions or for those that seek convenience. Most of our hair extensions you can install from the comfort of your own home and still achieve glamorous salon quality hairstyles.
We have recently launched our beautiful HD Lace Glueless Wigs which are perfect for those that want a wig that is extremely glamorous but easy to install. As the name suggests, no glue is required for these wigs and they are pre-customized so you can wear them right out of the package. We started off with 5 options to give individuals a taste of what these wigs have to offer and will be coming with more options with different colors and lengths for customers to choose from.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three things, and I say “things” because it falls under all the categories listed, that helped me in my journey were my customer service skills, business administration knowledge and my determination. Most of the jobs that I have since coming to this country has been centered around the ways and means to provide exceptional service to customers. This has allowed me to gain the necessary skills to deal with both happy and disgruntled customers in the best way possible which has been implemented in my interactions with customers I’ve gained in my business. My business administration degree has helped in my organization of the processes needed to run the business efficiently and lastly my determination has given me the ability to overcome all the challenges that came about with this business.
My advice to individuals who are early in their journey to ensure they nurture and develop their customer relationships. Making your customers feel like people as opposed to a number will always foster repeat purchases and word of mouth. Showing them that you care about the problem you are solving for them will allow them to feel that your company values them as a human being and such keeps coming back. That helps with boosting your brand awareness and trust which is key to growth.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for folks to collab with where our hair extensions are concerned. More so upcoming hairstylists that want to include hair extensions in the services that they provide, as well as wanting to create content that they can add to their portfolio. We can provide our hair extensions to them at a wholesale price so that they can add it to their services and we are even willing to extend our inhouse content creation and editing capabilities to them. Additionally, we would like to add a referral page on our website of hair stylists that we partner with where local individuals buying our hair extensions can go to, to get the hair extensions installed.
