Meet Benjamin Saah

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Benjamin Saah. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Benjamin below.

Hi Benjamin, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my journey and everything I’ve been through. Growing up and dealing with challenges taught me how to keep going no matter what. Moving to the U.S. pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and build a new life. Running has shown me how to stay strong through tough times, and my drive to keep learning helps me bounce back after setbacks. Most of all, my love for helping others and the connections I’ve made keep me going and give me purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a running coach with over 10 years of experience helping runners get stronger, avoid injuries, and train smarter for their races. What I love most is helping people see what they’re capable of and enjoy the process of running—not just crossing the finish line. My coaching focuses on strength, mobility, and mindful running to help people feel good in their bodies and confident on race day.

I’ve also built a great running community with On NYC where we connect, grow, and celebrate wins together. Recently, I hosted a marathon after-party in NYC to bring runners together and celebrate their hard work. Events like that make what I do really special.

Right now, I’m excited to grow my 1:1 online coaching program. It’s a way for me to work closely with runners and help them reach their goals, whether it’s their first marathon or their fastest one. My goal is to help runners train smarter and enjoy the journey.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three things that helped me the most are perseverance, adaptability, and connecting with people.

Perseverance taught me to keep going, even when things got tough—like moving to a new country or dealing with setbacks in running and coaching. My advice is to stick with it and trust that the hard moments will make you stronger.

Adaptability helped me figure things out when plans changed or life didn’t go as expected. Things don’t always go the way you want, so being open to change and trying new things is really important. Start small—step out of your comfort zone when you can.

Connecting with people has been huge for me. Building relationships with my community and my clients keeps me motivated and makes my work meaningful. My advice is to listen, be real, and show up for others—it goes a long way.

If you work on these three things, you’ll be in a good spot for whatever you’re trying to do.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The biggest challenge I’m facing right now is getting my knee strong again after an injury earlier this year. It messed up my training and affected how I ran the Berlin and NYC marathons. It’s hard because I’m used to pushing myself, but now I have to focus on recovery and take it slow.

To fix this, I’m working with a physical therapist to strengthen my knee and build stability. I’m doing exercises to target weak spots and taking it one step at a time. I’ve also had to learn to be patient and remind myself that progress takes time.

It hasn’t been easy, but I know it’s making me stronger. My goal is to come back better in 2025, and I’m sticking with the work to make it happen.
