We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarah Evans a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, we are so appreciative of you taking the time to open up about the extremely important, albeit personal, topic of mental health. Can you talk to us about your journey and how you were able to overcome the challenges related to mental issues? How have you overcome or persisted despite the challenges related to mental health issues?
I was diagnosed with Bipolar Depression in 2019 following the heartbreaking loss of my daughter, Marley, who was stillborn. For a long time, I turned to alcohol, thinking it would help me cope, but I soon realized it only numbed the pain without addressing it. One day, my mom gifted me a large box of broken candles, which I decided to repurpose in new containers. That’s when I discovered peace in lighting a candle. I began setting aside time to sit in silence, savoring the soothing aromas.
I gradually incorporated more self-care practices into my routine, like journaling and yoga. It’s an ongoing struggle, but I make it a priority each day to take steps toward balance on my journey to healing.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a holistic healer with a deep passion for the power of herbs and natural remedies. My journey into herbalism began after a challenging experience when my IUD had to be removed due to it being improperly positioned in my uterus. Following this procedure, I experienced unexplained pain that left me searching for answers beyond what traditional medicine could provide.
In 2017, I discovered Dr. Sebi’s teachings on alternative healing methods, which ignited my desire to study herbs more extensively. I started experimenting with various plants and learned about the healing properties they possess. This journey not only helped me heal physically but also led me to explore how aromas affect the brain.
The loss of my daughter, Marley, profoundly impacted my life and inspired me to create chakra packages to align my energy. This nurturing process culminated in the development of my signature line of Chakra candles, each scent meticulously crafted to correspond with the different chakras within the chakra system.
Currently, I am excited to announce that I am working on a new line of hair care products, shea butter and additional candle products designed to enhance well-being and promote a balanced life. I look forward to sharing these offerings with you and helping others on their personal healing journeys.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For those who are early in their journey, I would share a fundamental principle: the mind is all, and the universe is mental. This means that everything begins with an idea, and it takes time for those ideas to manifest in the physical world. It’s important to be mindful of your thoughts, as they have a tendency to attract corresponding outcomes.
It’s essential to understand that the brain consists of two parts: the conscious mind and the subconscious. The conscious mind is your state of awareness, while the subconscious operates in a more abstract manner, working with symbols and signs. You can reshape your reality by using symbols and imagery to open your mind to new possibilities.
Lastly, I encourage you to be patient with yourself. This means giving yourself grace, regardless of what others may say. Your journey is uniquely yours, and embracing that individuality is key to growth and success!

A book that has had a significant impact on my development is “Hidden Powers: How to Unleash the Power of the Subconscious Mind.” This book offers profound insights into how our subconscious influences our thoughts, behaviors, and overall reality.

1. The Role of Beliefs: The book emphasizes that our beliefs shape our reality. By identifying and challenging limiting beliefs, we can open ourselves up to greater possibilities and achievements.
2. Visualization Techniques: It highlights the power of visualization—using mental imagery to activate the subconscious mind. This technique helps in manifesting our goals and desires by creating a clear mental picture of what we want to achieve.
3. Positive Affirmations: The book advocates for the use of positive affirmations to reprogram the subconscious. By repeatedly affirming positive statements about ourselves and our abilities, we can cultivate a more constructive mindset and boost our confidence.
These insights have encouraged me to explore the depths of my subconscious and harness its power to create a more fulfilling and empowered life.
