We recently connected with Carrington Whigham and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Carrington, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Moving to London for my master’s was the ultimate leap—a bold move into unfamiliar territory to expand my global perspective, a place I had not visited before flying across the world to my new home. However, I knew that my background in theater, sports, pageants, and government could be no different from living in the moment and making intentional decisions. Each risk I’ve taken, whether professional or personal, has been fueled by a belief that growth only happens outside your comfort zone. It’s about trusting the vision and having faith, even when the path ahead isn’t fully clear.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My work lives at the intersection of leadership, advocacy, and digital creativity, where storytelling becomes a tool for action and empowerment. Whether I’m driving engagement as Deputy Digital Director for the Harris-Walz campaign or guiding futures through Global Toast, the educational consulting firm I co-founded with my mother, my mission remains the same: to amplify diverse voices and inspire change.
What excites me most? Making politics fun, fresh, and relatable. My generation is redefining what political engagement looks like, and I’m here for it—infusing vibrant energy into civic spaces and fostering connections that matter. From leading voter education campaigns to representing my voice at the White House’s National COVID Roundtable, I’m proud to make impactful change while keeping it engaging, relevant, and authentic.
Stay tuned because the next chapter is all about breaking barriers and enhancing the civic engagement footprint.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three key qualities have defined my journey: resilience, confidence, and creativity. Resilience has been my anchor, helping me navigate challenges with grit and determination. Confidence has been my compass, allowing me to walk into rooms, own my voice, and make my presence felt. And creativity? That’s the secret sauce, transforming ideas into initiatives that inspire and connect.
My advice to those seeking a similar journey is simple:
Build your resilience by embracing challenges.
Nurture your creativity by staying curious and open to unconventional ideas.
Oh, and sprinkle a little delusion. If you tell yourself there are no limits- there can be no limits.
These three qualities aren’t just skills; they’re a mindset that’ll take you further than you can imagine.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
As a creative, my biggest challenge is navigating my place as someone who wants to do it all in a market that feels complete. It’s easy to feel like your voice could get lost in the noise, but I’ve learned that the real obstacle isn’t the competition—it’s the hesitation. The fear of imperfection or waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment can paralyze you.
My resolution? I’ve embraced the philosophy of just do it. I’ve realized that execution outweighs perfection, and every bold step forward is a declaration that my vision deserves space. By staying authentic, trusting my instincts, and creating from a place of passion rather than comparison, I’m carving out a lane that feels uniquely mine.
