We recently connected with Melanie Patterson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Melanie, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

How did I find my purpose?

When Jesus revealed Himself to me, I quickly realized why my life “never worked”. I didn’t know God. I didn’t have His Word that is Spirit and Life to lead me and guide me.

After giving my life to Him, I realized that I was created by God and for God’s purpose on the earth. In fact, that’s a revelation for each of us to have. God, who created the Heaven’s and the Earth, created us, for Himself.

Our main purpose in life is to know God intimately, to have a relationship with Him through Jesus. That’s the MAIN purpose above all other things. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added unto you”.

The divine plan and purpose that God created us for will be revealed as we do Matthew 6:33.

I quickly, after giving my life to Jesus in November of 2015, began to tell others about Him. It was just in me to do so. My heart was for others to know Him as I had come to know Him, as Lord and Savior.

You see, when you surrender your life to the One who created you, as you seek, follow and obey, God speaks to you, through His Word. He leads you to those plans and purposes He created you for. It’s relationship, not religion.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

We began BEHOLD Ministries in January of this year, 2024. It is a non-profit organization that is committed to spreading the Gospel. The heart behind BEHOLD is to first and foremost bring glory to God but it is also to proclaim His Word and to see souls saved.

You see, if you had asked me prior to 2015 if I believed in God, I would have said “yes”. I think most people would say “yes” to that question but it’s much more than just believing that God exists. As I stated previously, God desires a relationship with us. He wants us to surrender our lives to Him and to follow Him. He wants to lead us through this life.
I, out of ignorance to Truth, tried to lead my own life and I’m sad to say that I failed miserably. It was only after giving my heart and my life to Jesus, that my crooked path became straight. The Word of God says that there are ways to a man that seem right, but they are not right, those ways actually lead to death. Our ways are not right, only His are.

I say all of that to say this, it is such an honor and privilege to take God’s Truth’s into the busy city streets, to proclaim it, to speak it into the hearts of others because we KNOW that He IS the answer that everyone is searching for! It’s such a blessing to be able to pray for people in the streets, to encourage them and point them to the One who is the answer. It’s an honor to lead someone in a prayer of repentance as they give their life to Jesus. We are very thankful.

We’ve focused a lot on Ohio this year, going into different cities and such. But, with that being said, we’ve also traveled to Washington DC, Asheville, NC and St. Louis, MO.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I kept pursuing Jesus. I set my face like a flint upon Him and His Word. I stayed obedient to Him.

My heart’s desire was to know Him, to be pleasing to Him in all of my ways, to be in right standing with Him. He has been so good to me. He has saved me, redeemed me and has made me knew. I owe ALL to Him.
Matthew 6:33.

As far as advice goes, it would be this – Give your life to Jesus, seek Him, follow Him, submit, obey and abide in Him and all other things will come into order. The plans and purposes for your life will unfold. Your life will be full. You will be satisfied and full of life, hope, purpose, peace, joy and so much more. It’s all wrapped up into Jesus, I promise.

Most importantly, Jesus is the ONLY way to eternal life. One must believe in the Son of God and repent. The Bible says that when you do that, your made a new creation, your born again. Old things pass away, behold all things become new.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I LOVE this question and your probably thinking, “I already know what this girl is going to say.” and you are right.
My answer is The Bible, The Word of God.

Many of us search for those “self-help” books on the shelves but there is ONE Book that has led me, taught me, changed me, comforted me, counseled me and much, much more. The Bible.

This Book IS Wisdom and the one who finds it, finds LIFE.

Perhaps you’ve heard someone say, “I wish life came with an instruction manual.” Well, it does, it’s the Word of God. God didn’t just create us, put us on this earth and say, “best of luck to you.”, “do the best you can.” No, He gave us His Word to lead us and guide us through the power of His Holy Spirit.

I’m not saying other books are wrong or that they are not helpful, but those books won’t take you where the Word of God will. The Bible trumps ALL other Books.
