We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rita Covington. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rita below.
Rita , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience in life comes from the trials I have endured, coupled with the strength I gain through the power of God within me. He is the true reason for my resilience, continually keeping me strong throughout all the challenges I have faced. Most recently, my resilience has been tested in the most profound way with the loss of my 24-year-old son in a car accident. This has been the most challenging time of my life, one I could not have endured without my faith in Christ. It is only through Him that I find the strength to carry on. I would like to say I didn’t lose my son I gained my Christopher to Heaven.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a singer and songwriter. After gaining my son to Heaven, I felt compelled to write a book about grief, aimed at helping other mothers who have lost a child and providing comfort to anyone who has experienced grief in any capacity. Through my story, I hope to inspire others and remind them that Jesus is always there to comfort us in our trials—we are never alone, and God always has a plan and purpose for our lives. My book will be published in 2025, and I am excited to share this chapter of my journey with the world, knowing it will positively impact thousands of lives.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three areas of knowledge that were most impactful to me on my journey were my family and friends, who formed my immediate support system around me during the most vulnerable time of my life, and most importantly, God. There is truly nothing that can prepare anyone for an unexpected tragic accident. However, the peace that only God can give surpasses all understanding. If you keep Him first and trust Him throughout your life, you will find the strength to endure anything. I am living proof of this. My goal is to ensure that my sons legacy is shared amongst the world at the tender age of 24 years old when my son went to heaven it was evident that his time was up here on this earth and that was made more evident with the hundreds of individuals he impacted , My son Mr. Chrstopher Tyler Covington worked for the 1Hotel on South Beach for 6 years and his impact there was so vast that there was an olive tree planted on the rooftop where my son worked and a plaque with his name that will forever be at the 1Hotel South Beach for my sons memory and honor and I cannot wait to share more about my sons beautiful walk on this earth with the world in my upcoming book that will be released in 2025.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Once my book is published, it would be a great asset to collaborate with book bloggers, other authors in my genre, social media influencers, online communities related to my book topic, local book stores, libraries , relevant podcast and journalists or media outlets to promote my book to a wider audience
