Meet Busani Ncube

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Busani Ncube. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Busani, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

As a 26-year-old photographer, I’d say my confidence and self-esteem developed through a mix of personal growth and challenges in my career. Starting out, I doubted my skills and worried about how others perceived my work, but over time I learned that confidence comes from doing the work, even when it’s uncomfortable. I focused on honing my craft, taking feedback constructively, and celebrating small wins, like nailing a shoot or getting positive feedback from a client. I also stepped out of my comfort zone by networking with other creatives, showcasing my work, and learning to handle rejection without letting it define me. Beyond photography, I started prioritizing my health, which made a huge difference in how I felt about myself. Confidence, for me, is an ongoing journey of growth, both personally and professionally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a fashion photographer based off in Toronto and Newyork. The most exciting thing about it is that l get to showcase other peoples art of expression.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being Creative is the biggest one. Communication with others is just as important especially with models. And last but not least, fearlessness to try something new and share your ideas.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Honestly, my biggest mentor is youtube. It is a jungle of knowledge and you find different professionals teaching you different skills.
