Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anaya Roy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anaya, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Resilience comes from a combination of experiences, mindset, and habits. It’s shaped by:
1. Past Challenges: Facing and overcoming difficulties builds strength and confidence to handle future obstacles.
2. Support Systems: Having friends, family, or mentors who offer encouragement and perspective.
3. Mindset: A growth mindset, which sees failure as a learning opportunity, is key to staying resilient.
4. Self-Care Practices: Physical and mental well-being, through rest, exercise, or mindfulness, fuels resilience.
5. Purpose: Staying focused on long-term goals can make setbacks feel temporary and manageable.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a fashion model passionate about bringing creativity and storytelling to life through style. What excites me most about modeling is the opportunity to collaborate with talented designers, photographers, and brands to create something truly unique and expressive. It’s not just about wearing clothes—it’s about embodying the mood, vision, and narrative behind them.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my portfolio with projects that showcase versatility—from high-fashion editorials to more personal and authentic lifestyle shoots. My goal is to inspire others to see fashion as a form of self-expression.
Recently, I’ve been involved in a few exciting campaigns that highlight sustainable fashion, and I’m eager to explore more projects that align with eco-conscious values. For those interested in following my journey, I’m also working on hosting interactive online sessions to connect with my audience and share insights into the modeling world.”
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities and skills have been especially impactful in my journey as a fashion model:
1. Confidence: Modeling requires you to be comfortable in your own skin, no matter the setting or audience. Developing confidence came through practice—whether it was runway rehearsals, photo shoots, or simply putting myself out there. For anyone starting out, remember that confidence grows with experience. Step out of your comfort zone as often as you can and embrace constructive feedback.
2. Adaptability: Every project is different, with new creative teams, themes, and environments. Being adaptable has allowed me to thrive in various scenarios, from last-minute wardrobe changes to working in challenging weather conditions. My advice is to stay open-minded, flexible, and ready to learn from every experience—it keeps you professional and helps build trust with the team.
3. Networking and Building Relationships: This industry thrives on connections. I’ve learned the importance of being genuine, professional, and approachable with everyone I meet, from photographers to stylists. For newcomers, focus on building authentic relationships and treat every opportunity as a chance to grow your network and reputation.
My advice for those starting out is to invest in their growth by seeking out opportunities for learning—whether it’s through workshops, mentorship, or practice. Believe in yourself, stay resilient, and never stop striving to improve.”
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
One of the challenges I’m currently facing as a fashion model is navigating the constant demand for innovation in a rapidly evolving industry. With the rise of social media and digital fashion, staying relevant requires more than just modeling—it’s about building a personal brand, engaging with audiences, and adapting to new trends.
Balancing creativity with consistency can be tough, especially when juggling multiple projects, maintaining a strong online presence, and ensuring self-care doesn’t fall by the wayside.
I’m addressing this challenge by focusing on authenticity in my work and using platforms to connect with my audience in meaningful ways. Whether it’s showcasing behind-the-scenes moments or collaborating with brands that align with my values, I’m finding ways to stay true to myself while evolving with the industry.
