We recently connected with Den Baurin and have shared our conversation below.
DEN, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
“My confidence and self-esteem have been shaped by a combination of self-reflection, experience, and passion for my craft. Early in my journey, I realized that true confidence comes from within—it’s about believing in your unique voice and what you have to offer to the world.
Performing, writing, and creating allowed me to connect with myself and my audience on a deeper level. Each time I stepped out of my comfort zone—whether it was writing a deeply personal song or performing on stage—I grew a little more confident. Those moments of vulnerability taught me that strength comes from embracing who you are, flaws and all.
Surrounding myself with supportive people—friends, mentors, and my audience—also played a crucial role. Their encouragement reminded me that my work matters, which fueled my determination to keep going.
Lastly, I learned that self-esteem isn’t about being perfect; it’s about progress. I focus on improving and celebrating even the smallest victories. Every new step I take as an artist strengthens my belief in my abilities and the message I want to share with the world.”
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m DEN BAURIN, a Ukrainian artist dedicated to creating music that resonates deeply with emotion and visual storytelling. My recent project, Moonlight, was filmed in the picturesque city of Budapest and showcases the enchanting beauty of love under a starry sky. The music video has been embraced by audiences worldwide, gaining recognition on platforms like Spotify and YouTube.
In addition to my creative releases, I’ve had the honor of performing at various music festivals, sharing my passion for meaningful music with diverse audiences. These experiences have been pivotal, helping me grow as an artist and deepen my connection with listeners.
One of the most significant moments in my career was completing a U.S. tour in support of Ukraine. This tour was not just about music but about unity, awareness, and celebrating the resilience of the Ukrainian spirit. I’m profoundly grateful for everyone who attended and supported this cause—it was a deeply personal and transformative experience for me.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, I would say that creativity, emotional connection, and resilience were the most impactful factors in shaping who I am and what I’ve achieved. Here’s why they mattered and my advice for those starting out:
1. Creativity
Creativity has been the foundation of my work. It allowed me to craft music that speaks to people’s hearts and to present it in unique, visually stunning ways.
2. Emotional Connection
Building a strong emotional connection with my audience has been transformative. Whether it’s through heartfelt lyrics or intimate performances, this connection has turned casual listeners into lifelong supporters.
3. Resilience
Success rarely comes without setbacks. For me, resilience meant staying committed to my goals even when faced with challenges or uncertainty. It kept me moving forward during the tough times.
For anyone starting their journey, I’d emphasize the importance of being true to yourself, staying open to growth, and building the inner strength to face challenges head-on. These qualities will not only help you succeed but also make the journey itself deeply rewarding.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I take a moment to step back and reset, whether by walking, meditating, or simply sitting quietly. I prioritize tasks, breaking them into manageable steps to regain a sense of control, and I lean on my support system—friends or family—for advice or encouragement. Most importantly, I remind myself to practice self-compassion, knowing it’s okay to feel this way and that small, steady progress is key to moving forward. Overwhelm is temporary, and by staying patient and kind to yourself, you can navigate through it effectively.
