Meet Elizabeth Roman

We recently connected with Elizabeth Roman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

For me, resilience is deeply personal. Growing up with a rare kidney disease and undergoing multiple transplants, I’ve had to develop a strong sense of resilience just to get through each day. But I think what’s really helped me build resilience is my upbringing, my family, and my fur babies.

My dogs are, without a doubt, my biggest driving force. I think of them as my literal children – the thought of them waiting for me and me not being there is unbearable. The bond I have with them is incredibly strong, almost like that of a mother and child. They’ve been with me through the darkest of times, and they’ve helped me find the strength to keep going, even when it feels like everything is falling apart.

When I’m feeling weak or discouraged, all I have to do is look into their eyes, and I’m reminded of why I’m fighting so hard. I want to be there for them, to provide for them, and to give them the best life possible. They’re my reason for getting out of bed every morning, and they’re the reason I keep pushing forward, no matter what challenges come my way.

My mom has also been a huge source of inspiration for me. She worked tirelessly to provide for our family, often sacrificing her own needs and desires for ours. Seeing her perseverance and determination in the face of adversity taught me the value of hard work, grit, and resilience.

I believe that my experiences, combined with the love and support of my family and my fur babies, have given me the resilience I need to keep going, even in the toughest of times. And for that, I’m eternally grateful.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, I think the three qualities that have been most impactful are resilience, creativity, and a willingness to learn. As someone who’s navigated the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, I can attest to the fact that resilience is key. There have been times when I’ve felt like giving up, but my passion for Owa Owa and my commitment to our mission have kept me going.

Creativity has also been essential in helping me bring my vision to life. From designing our packaging to developing new recipes, I’ve had to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.

Finally, my willingness to learn has been instrumental in helping me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve learned so much through my real-life experiences, from working in various jobs to running my own business. And let’s be real – Google has been my best friend many times!

As for advice, I would say that the best way to develop these qualities is to simply start taking action. Don’t be afraid to take risks, try new things, and learn from your mistakes. For those who are early in their journey, I would recommend seeking out opportunities to gain practical experience, whether that’s through internships, volunteering, or taking on a side hustle.

It’s also important to be kind to yourself and to acknowledge that you don’t have to have it all figured out. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, but to be honest, I’ve learned more through my real-life experiences than I ever could have in a classroom. So, don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, ask questions, and seek out mentors who can offer guidance and support.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

At Owa Owa, our ideal client is a pet parent who is utterly obsessed with their furbaby – and we mean that in the best possible way! They’re someone who treats their dog or cat like a member of the family, and is mindful of the ingredients that go into their treats.

Likely someone who is already invested in their pet’s health and is looking for high-quality, nutritious treats that align with their values. They might be someone who is already feeding their pet a raw or homemade diet, or someone who is simply looking for a healthier alternative to traditional pet treats.

We’re talking about pet parents who are passionate about providing their pets with the best possible life, and who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure they’re getting the highest-quality treats. They’re likely someone who is always on the lookout for new ways to improve their pet’s health and happiness.

Ultimately, our ideal client is someone who shares our values, our passion, and our commitment to providing the best possible food for our furry friends. If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you join the Owa Owa familia!
