Meet Talia Lyons

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Talia Lyons. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Talia below.

Hi Talia, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

If being honest, I think no matter who you are or how big you get in your industry, everyone has some level of imposter syndrome. whether it’s all the time or once in a blue moon, we all experience it at some point or another. I think the best way to over come imposter syndrome is to really take a look at how far you’ve come and what an amazing job you’re doing, and to give your self the credit you deserve. Be humble but at the same time realize your strengths and celebrate them.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello, my name is Talia Lyons, and I’m a professional makeup artist based in New York City. Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, I’ve found that the city’s fast-paced and creative environment has been instrumental in growing my business.

With a passion for enhancing natural beauty, my style ranges from natural to glamorous, always with an elegant touch. I take pride in making my clients feel confident and beautiful, and I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with prominent platforms such as Netflix, Fox, Fashion Week, Bravo, NBC, and more!

I’m excited to continue pushing the boundaries of my creativity and exploring new opportunities in the industry!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve been a makeup artist for almost 12 years, and it all started with attending a makeup school called chic studios in Manhattan. That’s where I learned the basics and got a feel for the industry.

My first job was at a salon in Boca Raton. It wasn’t my dream job, but it was a great way to get my foot in the door and learn the ropes.

As I’ve grown my business, I’ve realized that building relationships and a good reputation are key. Happy clients lead to referrals, and that’s how you build a loyal following.

For me, it’s all about constantly improving my skills and staying visible. Whether it’s sharing my work on social media or networking with other professionals, I’m always looking for ways to grow and learn.

At the end of the day, my goal is to make people feel confident and beautiful. That’s what it’s all about for me.

If I had to give one piece of advice to anyone looking to grow their business, it would be that consistency is key. Showing up every day, putting in the work, and staying committed to your vision is what separates successful businesses from those that struggle. Stay consistent, stay focused, and always keep pushing forward.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Here’s the revised text:

“It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, especially when building a business. Stress and anxiety can creep in, but it’s essential to prioritize your well-being.

My advice, which I also try to practice myself when I’m feeling overwhelmed, is to make time for self-care and allow yourself physical and mental breaks. Be kind and patient with yourself, acknowledging that everyone faces unique struggles.

Rather than getting letting stress take over, focus on taking things one day at a time. View each new opportunity as a chance for growth and excitement, rather than a source of anxiety.

Remember, self-care is crucial, and it’s okay to not have all the answers. By being gentle with yourself and taking things one step at a time, you’ll be better equipped to navigate the ups and downs of building your business.”
