Meet Rosalind Smith

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rosalind Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rosalind, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

First, by accepting that you can’t please everybody. There will always be critics of your work. Always.
But a critics words won’t lead you to performing better. They won’t help you become stronger at your work. They won’t help you gain clarity with your vision /or your goals. So, what is the point of listening to them? No matter who they are, or what they say, their words won’t actually help you. They literally do not matter.

When it feels hard to tune out any haters’ voices, I think it can be helpful to remember why you started. At the end of the day, we don’t have to report to anyone but ourselves. When you go to bed at night, are YOU proud of how you did? If the answer is yes, you’re doing exactly as you should.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

By day, I work in the field of community mental health, and by night as a Running Coach /and Run Club Founder.

“Rosie’s Run Club” (RRC) is a non-profit organization, on a mission to foster community through a shared love of running. We are committed to supporting the growth and development of all athletes by creating a space for everyone to thrive through movement, connection, and training. We strive to increase accessibility and equity in the running community, ensuring all athletes, regardless of identity, experience or ability, feel welcome.

What excites me most about RRC is how we bring together people from all backgrounds. We’re intentional about fostering a space that embraces diversity, and we are committed to creating equitable access to resources and support for every member. Whether someone is new to running or an experienced athlete, we work to ensure everyone feels welcome, valued, and empowered to reach their personal goals.

Currently, RRC is focused on expanding its reach through more community events, building partnerships and offering training resources to support our members.
I am extremely grateful to be part of this inspiring community, and very excited for the future of our program!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three things I wish I had learned earlier, but am glad to know now:

1. Trust your intuition! Learn to listen to your gut, let your instincts guide you.

2. It might sound cheesy, but honestly, follow your passions. Don’t worry about what you think you should or shouldn’t be doing. Follow what genuinely excites you, motivates you, and sets your heart on fire. The rest will fall into place.

3. Be open to the unexpected! The universe is full of surprises. And some of the best opportunities come from where you’d least imagine. Stay flexible and open to new possibilities—you never know where they might lead.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! I am always looking for thought partners and collaborators.

Right now I am most interested in connecting with other professionals who are interested in collaborating on all things’ endurance. If you are a Physical Therapist, Physiologist, Sports Psychologist, Nutritionist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, or other, and have a passion for running, we want to hear from you!
