We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christina Rice. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christina below.
Christina , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey of self-awareness and intentional practice. For me, it started with acknowledging that those feelings of self-doubt or not being “good enough” weren’t unique to me—they’re surprisingly common, even among people I admire.
One of the most important tools was reframing my thoughts. Instead of focusing on what I didn’t know or areas where I felt less experienced, I began to focus on the value I do bring—the unique perspectives, skills, and passion I offer.
I also leaned heavily on community and mentorship.
Surrounding myself with supportive people who believe in me, even when I struggled to believe in myself, has been crucial.
Their encouragement helped me see myself through their eyes and reminded me that perfection isn’t required to make an impact.
Lastly, I learned to embrace action over perfection.
Imposter syndrome thrives on inaction, so I committed to showing up and doing the work.
I always say baby steps still move us forward so every small win and moment of progress chipped away at that insecurity, replacing them with confidence built on experience.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the founder of OMNoire (luxury wellness & travel experiences) and Retreat Like a Boss (coaching program for retreat leaders), and I’ve dedicated my work to creating spaces where Black women can prioritize their well-being, explore the world, and connect deeply with themselves and others.
Through our retreats around the world, my coaching programs, and a growing community, I aim to inspire personal growth, self-care, and the pursuit of freedom—whether that’s relational, emotional, spiritual or more.
What excites me most about my work is witnessing the transformation that happens when people allow themselves to fully show up for their own healing and growth.
Whether it’s a first-time retreat attendee discovering the magic of sisterhood or a budding retreat leader launching their first successful retreats, these moments remind me why I started this journey.
I’m excited about expanding our retreat offerings even further with the launch of a retreat directory in early 2025, along with new coaching programs designed to empower retreat leaders to build transformative, sustainable, and impactful businesses.
Additionally, we’re bringing our Zen at Home collection back, offering luxurious candles and home goods inspired by our retreats that are designed to help you create a sanctuary of relaxation and self-care in the comfort of your own space.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the 3 qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and vision.
1) Resilience: Challenges are inevitable when you’re building something meaningful, and resilience has been my anchor. It’s not about avoiding failure but learning to rise after every setback. For anyone early in their journey, I encourage you to view obstacles as opportunities to grow. Build a strong support system and practice self-care, because resilience comes from being able to recharge and keep going.
2) Adaptability: The ability to pivot when circumstances change has been crucial. Whether it’s navigating shifts in the industry or unexpected personal challenges, adaptability keeps you moving forward. My advice is to stay open to new ideas and be willing to reassess your plans when needed. Flexibility isn’t a weakness—it’s a strength that allows you to thrive in uncertainty.
3) Vision: Having a clear vision has been the driving force behind my work. It’s what keeps you motivated and grounded, even when things get tough. For those just starting out, take the time to define what success looks like for you—not just in terms of achievements but how you want to feel and live. Revisit that vision often to keep it alive and let it guide your decisions.
Above all, I always remember that success isn’t a straight path. It’s a journey filled with twists, turns, and lessons. I have learned to embrace the journey and trust that every step is taking me closer to where I’m meant to be.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m particularly interested in collaborating with hotels, tourism boards, and hospitality and wellness brands that align with our mission to empower Black women to prioritize self-care, embrace new adventures, and explore travel as a pathway to healing and growth.
With wellness travel projected to see a significant uptick in 2025—especially among Black women who are prioritizing rest, travel, and community—this is the perfect time to partner with us.
Black women are leading the way in wellness travel, seeking spaces where they can recharge, connect, and experience the world in meaningful ways.
Whether it’s hosting retreats in unique destinations, co-creating wellness experiences, or promoting travel opportunities that foster community and transformation, partnering with us in 2025 will provide an incredible opportunity to get in front of our audience.
