Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ellise Giacomazzi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ellise with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from my mom, who has been an entrepreneur my whole life and set an incredible example of dedication and perseverance. Growing up, I watched her pour herself into her work with passion and determination, though I didn’t fully understand it at the time. Now, as my son sees me chasing my dreams and working hard to build something meaningful, I have an even deeper respect for her strength and resilience- especially as a woman carving her own path.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As the founder and owner of The Sculpt Room, I’m passionate about creating a space where Pilates becomes more than just a workout; it’s a transformative experience. The Sculpt Room is a sanctuary for anyone looking to improve their physical and mental well-being. Our classes are designed to challenge and empower, blending community, innovation, and the art of Pilates.
What makes The Sculpt Room truly special is our focus on fostering connections. We’re not just about fitness; we’re about building a supportive community that uplifts and inspires. From wellness events to workshops and collaborations with local businesses, we’re constantly creating opportunities for our members to grow, connect, and thrive.
We’re excited to offer a variety of unique classes, from strength-focused to cardio-infused formats, and we’re always exploring new ways to bring health and well-being to the forefront of our community. Whether it’s hosting events like ‘Get Your Sculpt On’ with Java Earth and La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, or launching our teacher training program, we’re committed to helping everyone improve their lives through the power of Pilates.
At The Sculpt Room, our mission is simple: to help people feel stronger, more confident, and more connected to themselves and each other.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say three key qualities have been most impactful in my journey: my background in marketing, my solution-oriented mindset, and my ability to inspire and bring people together to create a sense of community.
My marketing background has been invaluable in helping me build The Sculpt Room’s brand and connect with our audience in an authentic and meaningful way. For anyone starting out, I recommend diving deep into understanding your audience and honing your storytelling skills; they’re crucial for creating a brand that resonates.
A solution-oriented mindset has been essential, especially as an entrepreneur. Challenges are inevitable, but approaching them with a focus on finding creative solutions can turn obstacles into opportunities.
Lastly, my ability to bring people together has been a cornerstone of The Sculpt Room. Building a strong community has not only enriched my business but also made the journey so much more fulfilling. My advice? Be genuine, lead by example, and prioritize relationships with clients, collaborators, or your team.
These three qualities have shaped my path and helped me turn my vision into a reality, and I’m confident they can make a big difference for others, too.
We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I firmly believe in going all in on your strengths and delegating areas where you’re not as strong to someone whose strengths complement yours. When we focus our energy on what we excel at, we not only make the most of our natural talents but also create more value for our team and our business.
Trying to improve in areas where you know you’re not naturally skilled can be a time sink. Instead of spending that energy on something that might only lead to marginal improvement, it’s far more productive to double down on what you’re good at and let others step in where they shine.
For example, in my journey with The Sculpt Room, my background in marketing, interior design, and Pilates has been the driving force behind the brand’s growth. I don’t try to micromanage areas like instructing, though; instead, I bring in instructors who are truly professionals in every sense of the word. This allows me to focus on my strengths, like fostering connections and creating a compelling vision, while trusting my team to handle other essential elements of the business.
The key is to know yourself and your strengths, lean into them, and build a team that complements you. Not only does this make your work more fulfilling, but it also ensures the best results for your business and your community.
