We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Martina Di Napoli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Martina, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my international background and Italian culture. I was raised from very young parents who dedicated their lives in working and taking care of family. Thus, I was the first generation college graduate with an entrepreneurial dream to create something for my future and legacy name. My Italian core values is community, family, give back, and hospitality and I embrace all of those values through Storia Mia Events being my brand and service.

Ciao! I’m Martina Di Napoli, an Italian woman who has called the U.S. home since 2006. My passion for creating unforgettable events has always been at the heart of my journey. Growing up, I was inspired by the polished, well-dressed individuals running the events I admired, always thinking, “One day, that will be me.”
My professional path began in hospitality, where I worked for over a decade while immersing myself in a new language and culture. This experience fueled my desire to pursue a career in event planning. In 2020, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Event Management from Cal Poly Pomona’s Collins College, where I honed my skills and deepened my love for crafting experiences that leave lasting memories.
From there, I embarked on my career journey, working with both a global corporate company and a private luxury events firm. What started as a dream became a reality as I transitioned from a passionate hobby to a thriving profession. As my skills and confidence grew, I knew it was time to take the leap into entrepreneurship.
In 2022, I founded Storia Mia Events, an event planning company with a personal touch. The name “Storia Mia” means “my story” in Italian, and it reflects the idea that every event is a unique narrative waiting to unfold. Whether it’s a wedding, a milestone celebration, or a social gathering, I believe each event tells its own story, and I work to make sure that story is told with elegance and authenticity.
While I wear many hats as the owner of Storia Mia—managing operations, overseeing marketing, and creating unforgettable experiences—I remain deeply passionate about the core of my business: event design and production. As a solo entrepreneur, I know there’s always more to learn, but I’m driven by the belief that Storia Mia has the potential to make people’s most important life moments happen, beautifully and seamlessly.
Storia Mia Events serves clients across Southern California and even offers destination planning in Italy, bringing a touch of Italian elegance to events near and far. I am excited for the future and look forward to continuing to create meaningful, personalized experiences for every client, while staying true to my roots and my passion for bringing stories to life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My top 3 qualities – and what people who know me say about me – I am empathic, I have a strong sense of community, and I am resourceful. All things that have helped grow and excel in my personal and career path. The advice I can give is to seek mentorship and support. We are in the industry of service and people and connections are the key factor to extend that service to the next desired level.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
My goal for 2025 is to collaborate with local venues in Los Angeles and surrounding areas that are interested in having an event and wedding planner as a preferred vendor in their network to help facilitate planning, designing, and managing of events and weddings onsite. There is a big different between a venue manager and an event planner that many people sadly are not aware. And while we work as a team to execute incredible events, both roles are beneficial to prospective clients to enhance the experience with the venue facility and the internal flow of event.
