Meet Kimberly Clark

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kimberly Clark. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kimberly below.

Hi Kimberly , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Take A Seat at the Table:

I’ve often found myself as the only African American woman in the room. From corporate boardrooms to entrepreneurial events, it’s a pattern I know well. But I didn’t come to blend in—I came to stand out. Growing up, my mother always told me, “Kimberly, when you walk into a room, you carry the legacy of queens before you. Stand tall.” Those words became my foundation, a reminder that I have a purpose and a presence that deserves to be acknowledged. With bold dreams of transforming lives and empowering others, I’ve learned to navigate spaces where my presence wasn’t always expected—but my impact was always undeniable.

Before stepping into entrepreneurship, I built my career on five pillars: confidence, credentials, community, compassion, and connecting. I knew that preparation and expertise were my ticket to owning any room I entered. My mantra was simple yet powerful: “If there isn’t a seat at the table available for you, bring your own chair.”

Confidence in Every Room:

One thing I’ve always exuded is confidence. Not the kind that comes from ego, but the kind rooted in preparation and knowing my worth. I made it my mission to show up with unmatched skills and expertise that spoke for themselves. Over time, I realized that when you know your value and carry yourself with assurance, others take notice.

My social butterfly demeanor has been my secret weapon. I’ve always believed in the power of relationships and authentic connections. I call it “NETworking Your Brand,” and it’s become a signature course and a key topic in my mini-masterclass podcast series. For me, networking isn’t about collecting business cards—it’s about creating opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Your Culture Is Your Brand:

One thing I’ve embraced throughout my journey is that “your culture is your brand.” My lived experiences, my heritage, and my story are what set me apart. I’ve leaned into these aspects of myself, using them to inspire and uplift others. It’s why I created initiatives like my ‘Hey Queen, Your Crown’ Empowerment Kit—to remind women and young ladies of their inherent worth and potential.

As part of my coaching and consulting work, I developed the NETwork Framework Methodology to help others define their personal or professional brand vision statements. It’s about more than just goals—it’s about defining the dream and the direction you’re heading in, anchored by your unique values.

Thriving Despite Challenges:

As corporations and retailers began scaling back their DEI policies, I reminded myself that my worth transcends any temporary trend or policy. Confidence, credentials, and wisdom have always been the foundation of my success. I’ve learned to adapt and thrive because I know I bring value to every room I enter.

My motto has evolved over time: “Hey Queen, Stand In & On Your Faith and don’t forget your crown. You deserve to be in the room.” I’ve never let being the only one of color in a room define my limits. Instead, I’ve used it as an opportunity to educate, influence, and inspire.

Empowering Others to Bring Their Own Chairs:

For me, it’s not just about achieving my dreams—it’s about helping others achieve theirs. Through my work, I’ve equipped countless women with the tools they need to succeed, even in rooms where they might stand alone. My “NETwork Your Brand” philosophy is all about building confidence, connections, and opportunities.

Today, I don’t just take a seat at the table—I create new spaces where others can thrive. It’s my mission to ensure that no one feels they have to wait for permission to belong. If there’s no seat at the table, let’s bring our own chairs—and reshape the entire room together.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been confidence, character, and a commitment to investing in myself. Confidence allowed me to show up and own my value, even in spaces where I was the only one who looked like me. Character ensured I stayed authentic and built meaningful relationships. Regular self-investment—whether through courses, coaching, or mentorship—helped me continually grow and refine my expertise.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to be intentional. Cultivate confidence by celebrating small wins and stepping out of your comfort zone. Strengthen your character by leading with integrity and staying true to your values. And most importantly, prioritize self-investment—set aside time and resources to grow your skills, seek guidance, and expand your knowledge. It’s the best way to build a solid foundation for lasting success.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Faith as My Foundation—When it comes to overcoming challenges and building essential skills, my foundation has always been God. He has been my unwavering guide, shaping my mind, body, and soul. Through every trial and triumph, my faith has been the anchor that keeps me grounded and focused.
One truth I often share is that faith, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. If you’ve never seen the size of a mustard seed, I encourage you to take a moment to research it. That tiny seed holds a powerful visual reminder: no matter how small your faith may feel, it’s enough to overcome any challenge.

The Art of Writing as a Tool for Faith—Writing has always been a powerful tool for me—a way to connect deeply with my faith, process emotions, and gain clarity amidst life’s challenges. It’s not just about putting words on paper; it’s about creating a sacred space to explore your thoughts, align with your purpose, and draw closer to God.
This belief in the transformative power of writing is why I have curated several faith-based journals and workbooks. These resources are designed to help you connect with your thoughts, emotions, and day-to-day occurrences while also setting and achieving meaningful goals.

Among them are:

52 Weeks of Manifesting: A guided journey to focus on your desires and align them with faith, intention, and action.

52 Weeks of Prayer & Purpose: A tool to deepen your prayer life, discover your purpose, and stay anchored in God’s plan for you.

Each journal and workbook serve as a companion for your spiritual and personal growth, helping you navigate life with faith, clarity, and intention. Whether you’re reflecting on a challenging season or planning your next steps, these tools are crafted to support you in becoming the best version of yourself.

Let these resources inspire you to write your way to breakthrough moments, manifest your dreams, and cultivate a life grounded in purpose and prayer.

Investing in Guidance—Faith is essential but so is seeking wise counsel. Challenges in life often require expertise beyond our own understanding. That’s why I emphasize the importance of working with a coach or therapist—someone trained to offer objective, constructive guidance.

Friends, while well-meaning, can sometimes bring bias or personal perceptions that may not serve your growth. A coach or therapist, on the other hand, provides a safe, unbiased space to help you navigate challenges with clarity and purpose.

Stand on Faith and Take Action—Faith without action is incomplete. It’s why I believe investing in yourself—whether through therapy, coaching, or learning new skills—is an act of faith in your own potential. When you combine a mustard seed of faith with intentional steps forward, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.

Let your faith and your commitment to growth guide you as you navigate life’s challenges. And remember: God didn’t bring you this far to leave you. Take the next step forward in confidence, knowing He’s right there with you.
