Meet Karpit Patel

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Karpit Patel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Karpit below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Karpit with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I began my career in India as a photographer, which sparked my passion for working behind the camera and deepened my interest in the technical and creative aspects of filmmaking. Through hands-on experiences on set, I learned the importance of adaptability, perseverance, and discipline in this competitive industry.

Observing the people around me, I noticed two approaches to life: those who work hard to achieve their aspirations and those who prioritize temporary pleasures. This has taught me to balance enjoying life with pursuing my ambitions. While leisure is important, long-term success requires consistent effort and effective time management.

In filmmaking, where opportunities are fleeting, being prepared and proactive is essential to seize the moment and achieve my goals.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Being a passionate filmmaker about crafting impactful stories that balance creativity and commercial viability, my goal is to establish myself as a Director, Writer, and Producer, blending artistic expression with strategic thinking.

Currently, I’m co-producing and co-writing a short film inspired by Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, which will be filmed in December and submitted to festivals after April. I also recently completed a short film titled Guardian Angel, starring Indian actor Dip Patel, which will soon be released on YouTube and submitted to festivals. Both projects reflect my commitment to creating content that resonates with audiences while standing out in a competitive industry.

Looking ahead, I plan to launch a production company to collaborate with like-minded creatives and deliver original, innovative content that inspires and captivates audiences. My focus is to craft stories that leave a lasting impact while maintaining their artistic integrity and ensuring commercial success. Through this venture, I aim to make a meaningful contribution to the film industry, combining creativity with business acumen to produce films that audiences will remember and cherish.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most impactful qualities that have shaped my journey are managing overthinking, embracing learning opportunities, and building a strong network. Overthinking can lead to unnecessary stress and exhaustion, so I’ve learned to let go of perfectionism and focus on the bigger picture.

Instead of fearing failure, I embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, knowing every experience adds value. Lastly, surrounding myself with a growth-oriented community has been vital to my success. A supportive environment helps me stay focused and motivated while pushing me to achieve my goals.

My advice will be manage overthinking, view challenges as learning opportunities, and nurture a positive network that fosters growth.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I use a few strategies to reset and refocus. I’ve learned through my experiences that it’s important to take time for myself when I’m mentally drained. One way I do this is by playing sports I enjoy, like snooker or cricket. These activities help me relax and shift my focus from work. In addition to sports, I also find peace by spending time alone at the beach, listening to music, or taking a walk. Physical activities like going to the gym or swimming are also great for releasing stress. Lastly, a good night’s sleep helps me reset and approach challenges with a fresh perspective.
