Meet Acari

We recently connected with Acari and have shared our conversation below.

Acari , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Becoming a mom completely shifted my perspective on purpose. I realized that everything I create—whether it’s music or the way I show up in the world—is a reflection of the love and care I want to give my son. When he was born it was as if a switch flipped and my purpose became very clear: to leave behind something meaningful and make the world he grows up in more beautiful, to inspire him, and to show him what it looks like to follow your passions with courage.

I used to care so much about surface level things like looking cool to feel accepted and prove my worth but now what’s important to me is I get to take part of building a world for my child to grow up in. My purpose isn’t just making music – it’s about who I am, how I choose to show up, and what I’m teaching him through my actions every day. I just watched Gladiator 2 and I this Maximus quote hit me so hard: “what we do in this life echoes in eternity.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m acari, a music making mom born in the Philippines currently residing in the Bay Area. I aspire to be a good human in all aspects and write about this human experience through music.

I currently have a new song out called “Call Me Baby. It’s a catchy rnb disco anthem with a modern twist – I’d like to think it’s the perfect anthem for anyone daydreaming of someone or for those of us bold enough and ready to turn a crush into something more. It would mean everything to me if you took a listen!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

You probably already know this but these are things I remind myself whenever I’m feeling down and incapable:

Failure is part of the process.

Keep polishing your craft with resilience.

Your outer world is a direct reflection of your inner world – adjust your focus inward.

Everything is a season – your doubts, your fears, your wins. Focus on the long game and you’ll get somewhere.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

This is a relevant question for me because lately I’ve had a string of days when I’ve felt overwhelmed and it’s messed with my flow… When I need to reframe my thoughts on the fly, I would literally ask ChatGPT to reframe my struggles. I saw a thread on this and I’ll share the prompt here with you:

“Assume the role of a compassionate counselor. I am currently struggling with this situation emotionally/mentally: [describe situation]. Please reframe it in a positive and constructive way, highlighting potential growth, lessons, or silver linings.”

I definitely don’t have all the answers but ChatGPT just might 🙂
