Meet Insipidus

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yoav Daube. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yoav below.

Yoav, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

INSIPIDUS, a Denver-based progressive death metal band, combines raw, heavy sounds with introspective themes and layered, nuanced melodies. Guided by a deep sense of purpose, we view our music as more than just sound—it’s a meaningful force that drives us forward because the work matters and must endure. While the path isn’t always clear, the act of creating reminds us that we’re part of something bigger—for ourselves and for everyone who connects with our music.

I’m Yoav, founder and guitarist of INSIPIDUS. For me, it’s more than just a band or the music—it’s a creative outlet that keeps life engaging and meaningful. It’s also a way to connect with others who feel the weight of life’s complexities.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Insipidus stands out by blending the raw aggression of death metal with a diverse range of progressive melodies, creating a sound that’s both intense and intricately layered.

After facing challenges with recording along the way, we are now in the process of creating our second album, with a strong focus on achieving a polished, professional sound.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, resilience and adaptability were huge—pushing through lineup changes and balancing life while trying wild ideas like busking and DIY shows kept us moving. Staying true to Insipidus’ vision and raw authenticity helped us stand out and connect with people. At the core, it’s about passion—playing for the love of it and the ride along the way. In a world dominated by digital, creating something analog feels raw and real. For anyone starting out, embrace failure, stay true to your vibe, and just start—shit adds up.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We’re open to collabs, especially with those interested in unique music experiences like busking. If you’d like to partner with us for a busking event at your business, DIY show, or something creative, reach out via email or social media—that would be siq!

Our music is on all platforms Spotify, Bandcamp, YouTube.
Find us on social platforms as well.
