Meet Sandra Arnold

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sandra Arnold a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sandra, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

By loving myself. Being secure with who I am mentally, physically and emotionally. Not caring what others may say or think of me. Marching to my own drum. Doing and wearing what makes me feel good

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My company is Shinyairee, which means “God Gave”. My company is a women’s clothing brand and I also do clothing alterations. My goal is to create quality, stylish, multifunctional and classic design that appeal to women and people of all walks of life. Creating for those you don’t follow trends, but love to look different and stand out. I chose the name Shinyairee because my talent and skill for designing and creating is a God given talent. I didn’t go to school for fashion, I did self research and took a being sewing call at Sac city college. I started in 2005, but due to health issues I had to but my business on pause for a few years. Started back in the business in 2018 creating fashion jewelry and now creating a clothing collection for the New Year of 2025. Eager to share my talent with the world. Showing the world my God given talent. I feel everyone has a physical and spiritual gift God has given. When I create is like a video a can see in my head as I listen to music. The designs I come up with are inspiration from the sounds of the instrument in the beat and the designs just flow. I give all glory to God for my talent. I love the feeling I get from my clients when I alter their clothes or the reaction I get when people she my designs. It’s just amazing

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Studying the industry to be more knowledgeable and learning about fashion and terminology. Taking a sewing class to learn how to sew because I had tons of designs, but was afraid of the sewing needle on my machine lol. Praying and trusting in the gift I was blessed with and knowing God gave me this talent for a reason. The advice I would give to others is to trust your gut. If it’s something you wanted to do since you were a kid, then that’s probably your purpose in life

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Fashion From Concept to Consumer by. Gini Stephens Frings. A book my mom gave me. Teaches from fashion development, influencers of fashion, fashion research, textiles product development and more.
