We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Travis Weaver. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Travis below.
Hi Travis , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My grandfather, Lawerence Crutsinger was a true cowboy and is no doubt the person that I got my work ethic from. He worked from the moment the sun came up to after it went down. He was always prepared and never took short cuts and I think those are qualities that many overlook. Having his name attached to something meant it needed to be done right and that is something I strive for daily.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As founder of Manready Mercantile, we’re Houston based manufacture and retailer of premium goods. We make a wide range of apothecary goods including candles in reusable whiskey glasses to beef jerky. We have thousands of products that can be found on Manready.com or in our flagship brick and mortar in the historic Houston Heights area. We’ve take great pride in offering incredible products to our valued patrons and community and want folks to feel like home when they come in.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I was never the smartest person in the room, but I always worked longer and harder to make up for it. Tenacity is something many don’t have and I’ve always stayed the course to get the job done. I don’t like cutting corners and look at every single detail on a project no matter how big or small. It’s the little things that many times get overlooked. Lastly, I like to come up with my own ideas and will ask others their opinion, but being self aware enough to know your own gut is key. Get some feedback or input, but alway be you and do your own thing.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Letting me go out on my own fishing and playing outdoors.
