We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Pringle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
The founders of Gullah Business of Charleston, Nicole Pringle and Tiffany Savage, learned the true meaning of generosity from their grandmother. Her selfless acts of giving, love, and community support inspired them to carry forward her legacy by uplifting others and creating opportunities for Black-owned businesses to thrive.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Founded by cousins Nicole Pringle and Tiffany Savage, Gullah Business of Charleston is a platform dedicated to celebrating and supporting Black-owned businesses. Inspired by the generosity of our grandmother, we strive to uplift our community by creating opportunities for connection, growth, and visibility.
✨ What We Do:
Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive platform where Black-owned businesses can shine. From interviews and features to curated events, we’re here to highlight the incredible talent and innovation in our community. Our interviews are put on our social media pages.
🎁 12 Gifts of Christmas:
Each December, we celebrate the holiday season with our 12 Gifts of Christmas event. Over 12 days, we unbox, review, and showcase amazing products from Black-owned brands, helping you discover incredible gift ideas while supporting these businesses. Random giveaways throughout the event make it even more exciting.
👗 Annual Prom Dress Drive:
Every spring, we host our Prom Dress Drive, an initiative to make prom dreams come true for young ladies in our community. We collect and distribute beautiful dresses to ensure every student has the opportunity to feel special on their big day.
At Gullah Business of Charleston, we’re more than a platform—we’re a movement.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, the three qualities or skills that have been most impactful are:
1️⃣ Time Management:
Learning how to effectively manage my time was a game-changer. It allowed me to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and balance different aspects of my business and personal life. For those starting out, I recommend setting clear daily goals and using tools like calendars or apps to stay organized. Time is one of your most valuable resources—use it wisely!
2️⃣ Creating a Business Plan:
Having a solid business plan gave me a clear roadmap and direction. It helped me define my goals, understand my market, and set realistic expectations. My advice is to take the time to create a detailed plan that includes your vision, objectives, and strategies. Don’t skip this step—it’s the foundation of your business.
3️⃣ Developing and Sticking to a Mission Statement:
A strong mission statement not only defines what you do but also keeps you grounded. It’s your compass when challenges arise. My advice is to craft a mission statement that reflects your values and purpose, then let it guide your decisions and actions. Staying true to your mission will keep you aligned and focused.
For anyone early in their journey, my biggest advice is to remain consistent and adaptable. Learn as much as you can, surround yourself with supportive people, and always believe in your vision. Success takes time, but with the right skills and mindset, it’s absolutely achievable.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past year, our biggest area of growth has been stepping out of our comfort zone. We’ve embraced challenges and taken bold steps to expand our reach and impact. One of the most significant changes has been learning to use social media as a powerful tool to connect with our audience, share our mission, and achieve our goals.
Social media has allowed us to tell our story, highlight incredible Black-owned businesses, and engage with a broader community. It’s been a learning curve, but the results have been worth it. By adapting to new platforms and strategies, we’ve grown not only as individuals but also as a business.
The lesson here? Growth happens when you’re willing to embrace change and explore new opportunities—even when it feels uncomfortable at first.
