Meet Brett Wheeless

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brett Wheeless a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Brett with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Every day I get the opportunity to work with people on their health is an absolute gift from God. Having an attitude of gratitude is incredibly motivating for each and every day.

There are 2 places my work ethic comes from:

1) my faith as a Christian in Jesus Christ

2) my mom and dad

I’ll go into more detail below;

1) As a Christian, it’s my belief that God calls me to give my absolute best to honor Him. That means showing up prepared for every client session, making sure nutrition programs are dialed in, and that clients are getting results.

2) My family didn’t have a lot when we were young, and my mom and dad worked their butts off so they set the standard for my brother and I. Having a poor work ethic, or being lazy, was unacceptable, and they pushed us to excel in everything we did.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My wife Chelsey and I are Health and Performance Coaches in Del Mar, CA, and we specialize in functional fitness and nutrition.

We have worked with Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and professional athletes. We mainly work with business professionals, helping them with weight loss, overcoming low back pain, and any other “issues in the tissues”.

We are excited to announce our corporate wellness program for 2025! Please see our website for details.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Make sure whatever your spending your time working on is developing a skill that will translate to your career or professional development. That being said don’t waste time on senseless tasks, always try to be learning something. Our phones have more computing power than the old Apollo spaceship, there is no excuse to not constantly be learning and getting better.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

An ideal client is someone who lacks the time, consistency, and accountability to take the necessary steps to get healthy. Getting healthier or fitter is simple in concept, but throw in a career, social life, family life, and all the other obstacles, it can be quite challenging. We equip our clients with tools in their tool belt to actually stay fit for life. Give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Fitness changed our lives and we want to help everyone to change theirs as well.
