Meet Diana Delgado

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diana Delgado. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diana below.

Diana, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

I’ve learned to be effective by living in my own world. I keep my circle small because who you surround yourself with is the influence you get. Me personally I don’t like being in crowds I like my alone time it’s when I can really concentrate and bring out these amazing looks i create. I am my own competition and I think that’s how I’ve been able to be successful because I don’t need approval from no one but myself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve been in love with makeup since I was a little girl. I always had some type of bag with all my “essentials “, from lipgloss to glitters and rhinestone stickers to put on the side of my eyes. Now I have sooo many makeup products that I run out of room for them but i wouldn’t have it any other way. I love doing makeup because it helps me with my anxiety and any other situation I have going on, it’s an escape that takes me to a whole different world where I can create and bring out the best in my abilities. I hope to someday have my own cosmetics brand.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Creativity, patience, and the ability to receive criticism have been my top 3 skills to achieve success in my career. I love stunting people with my art but I am also humble enough to receive criticism it helps me see the bigger picture and improve on what I need to. My advice for a beginner makeup artist is KEEP TRYING!! Don’t ever give up on what you love, everyone starts somewhere and with patience you will meet your goal. Dont stop!!!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

My biggest growth of improvement in the last 12 months has been perfecting my art by taking my time and not rushing to finish a task. You have to have a lot of dedication and patience to perfect something, and sometimes I would get super anxious to finish to see what I came up with and i wouldn’t be too happy but now I take my time and I have the patience to really make sure everything is exactly how I want it .
