Meet Diego Soto

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diego Soto. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diego below.

Diego, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I really like this question because it’s one of the main aspects I help people with—elevating their confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem. In my personal case, it’s a combination of several tools. Everyone, absolutely everyone, experiences drops in self-esteem, whether due to internal traumas, something someone said, or a way someone made us feel. Over time, these factors manifest as deficiencies in certain areas of our lives.

That’s why inner work is key. If we don’t look within, we’ll never find the answer. All the great teachers have always said it: the answer lies within. What you seek is inside you; the kingdom of heaven is within. It’s essential to always look inward, staying aware of what’s happening in both your mind and emotions, since thoughts turn into emotions. This repeated process becomes a habit, Habits repeated for years become our personality, and personality is what we describe as negative, positive, toxic, fearful, confident, valuable, etc.

Whenever I feel low, the first question I ask myself is: What am I feeling? Then, Why am I feeling this way? Next, What do I want to stop feeling this way? And finally, Why do I want that?

For example, let’s say I feel incapable of earning more money. The reason might seem obvious, but it’s often much deeper. Wanting something implies I don’t have it, meaning there’s a void or lack to fill—feeling like I don’t have enough, I’m not enough, or I’m not secure in my current situation. This stems from something even deeper, usually rooted in childhood experiences. It’s often my inner child, wounded, feeling incapable because no one told them they were capable. Or feeling unsafe because no one gave them a hug to feel protected. Or feeling abandoned and thinking it was their fault.

To explain it better, every time I, as an adult, feel incapable, lacking, or afraid, I look back to my childhood for answers. Once that inner child tells me what they need, I embrace them, give them love, and show them that everything will be okay. This helps me realize that what I’m so worried about or afraid of usually isn’t as significant as it seems and that I am capable of achieving, doing, and having what I want.

I’ve learned this process through hypnosis. As a hypnotherapist, I use it both for myself and my clients because a single session can help people feel better, see the world differently, believe more in themselves, and move forward with confidence. Hypnosis not only helps revisit the past to have conversations with the inner child, but also to have conversations with yourself as an adult, understanding why you feel the way you do and realizing that you can achieve what you set your mind to.

This helps me understand my worth, set boundaries, and place myself in the position I deserve.

Another key aspect is gratitude. Being grateful for everything I have, no matter how small it seems. For example, when was the last time you gave thanks for the food on your table? Or your job? Or your health? When was the last time you thanked your feet for carrying you from one place to another? Or your heart for beating and keeping you alive? Gratitude helps me feel that I do have, that I am worthy, that I do deserve. And a great trick is to be thankful for what you desire as if you already had it, and hold onto that emotion. If I already have it, I’ve already been through the process, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Lastly, I evaluate my thoughts and replace them. Every time I catch myself having negative or low-quality thoughts, I try to let them go and immediately replace them with positive ones. For example, I use two affirmations regularly: I am Diego Soto, and only good things happen in my life. The second is: Success in my life is inevitable, and nothing can change that.

In conclusion, we are what we think. We can work on our thoughts in the present or by finding the reasons behind them in the past. In my experience, self-esteem and confidence come from the quality of our thoughts!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Diego Soto, and I am a hypnotherapist, author, speaker, and life coach. I am the creator of Tu Nueva Realidad, one of the largest digital platforms in Latin America dedicated to personal growth, mindset, energy, spirituality, and manifestation, with over one and a half million followers across various platforms.

My professional journey has been anything but conventional. I am originally from Colombia and now live in Los Angeles. After spending 15 years working in advertising, I gained a deep understanding of creativity, strategy, and communication. However, everything changed unexpectedly when a pivotal moment in my life led me down a completely different path.

After a motorbike accident left me bedridden for three months, I found myself facing more than just physical pain. I experienced a profound financial and emotional crisis, losing everything I had built—my job, my money, my health, and even the right to see my son. I was completely broke, deep in debt, and overwhelmed by the weight of it all. This period of immense struggle forced me to confront my life’s choices, my purpose, and everything I thought I knew. I was at a crossroads, lost and without direction, when something unexpected happened. In the stillness of that dark time, I stumbled upon Buddhism and meditation, which slowly began to heal me and guide me toward a new way of thinking.

I spent three years immersed in Buddhist teachings, attending a temple and learning how to rebuild my life from within. One of the key lessons that deeply resonated with me was the Buddhist idea that “your thoughts create your reality.” This simple but powerful concept sparked a fire within me and set me on a decade-long journey of discovery. I sought wisdom from shamans, witches, monks, elders—anyone who could help me understand the connection between the mind, energy, and our reality. Through this journey, I created my own process—a blend of hypnotherapy, spiritual teachings, energy healing, and other practices—to help others transform their lives as I had.

What excites me most about my work today is being able to guide others in their own process of self-discovery and transformation. I believe that everyone has the ability to change their reality, just as I did. Through Tu Nueva Realidad, I now share the tools and techniques that have helped me and countless others elevate their self-esteem, unblock limiting beliefs, and manifest a life filled with love, peace, abundance, compassion, and passion. I teach people how to find their true purpose and align their lives with their authentic selves, using powerful tools like hypnosis, energy healing, and spiritual wisdom.

In 2025, we will celebrate the fifth season of Tu Nueva Realidad and our fifth anniversary. To mark this milestone, we’re launching exciting new products, including hypnosis sessions for self-esteem, and another to reduce menstrual pain, while maintaining emotional balance. I’ll also be releasing the second edition of my book Tu Nueva Realidad, along with a new digital course, Ultra energetic manifestation. In this course, I help people to find purpose and manifest not just what they want, but what they truly need to live a life aligned with their essence, using the power of their energy and emotions. These tools will continue to guide our community in creating a life of peace, purpose, and abundance.

What drives me is the joy of seeing others experience profound transformations. To witness someone realize they can create a new reality for themselves is an incredibly powerful and inspiring moment. This is just the beginning of an even bigger journey, and I am excited to continue sharing these powerful tools with all those who are ready to transform their lives and manifest the reality they truly deserve.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge in my journey have been resilience, self-awareness, and the ability to learn from diverse sources.

Resilience: After facing personal and financial loss, including the physical and emotional toll of a motorbike accident, I had to rebuild my life from scratch. Resilience allowed me to persevere through dark times, understand that setbacks are part of growth, and trust that I could rise again. My advice to those early in their journey is to build emotional resilience by embracing challenges as learning experiences. Don’t avoid hardship—use it as fuel to grow stronger. Reflect, learn, and keep moving forward even when it feels impossible.

Self-awareness: I had to spend a lot of time reflecting on my life, my choices, and my purpose. This journey inward whether through meditation, hypnotherapy, or simply sitting with myself allowed me to understand my core beliefs and emotional triggers. Developing self-awareness is essential for personal growth, as it enables you to recognize patterns and shift limiting beliefs. For those starting out, take time to develop practices like journaling, meditation, or therapy that help you connect with your inner self. The more you understand yourself, the more you can shape your future.

Learning from diverse sources: My journey included learning from shamans, monks, energy healers, and even ancient wisdom traditions. The ability to remain open-minded and learn from a variety of perspectives expanded my understanding of life and spirituality. I’d encourage those new to their journey to be curious and open to learning from various teachers, books, and experiences. Whether it’s through books, mentors, or life experiences, don’t limit your sources of knowledge, each new perspective can offer you valuable insights.

My advice for those starting their own journey is to focus on building these qualities early on. Life will challenge you in ways you don’t expect, but resilience (if you are going through hell, keep walking, don’t stop), self-awareness (always stay aware of your thoughts and discard what you don’t serve you), and a willingness to learn will keep you moving forward and help you evolve. Be like a kid, open, full of love and playful.

I know that many of your readers are business people, entrepreneurs, and business owners who, generally, don’t believe in certain things. But I would like to tell them that most of the problems in their businesses don’t come from their business strategies or tactics, but from within themselves. Once they change that inner vision, it will be reflected on the outside. And I don’t say this from an esoteric or “woo-woo” perspective—I’m saying it because they are the ones creating their paths and careers. The most important thing isn’t the money; it’s them, themselves, as individuals. It’s not about saying, “Once I have this or achieve that, I’ll be this way,” but about starting to be the way you truly are, the way you feel, so that the things you achieve are aligned with who you are. And when you have that, don’t look back and feel an enormous emptiness because you filled your pockets but not your inner self.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

I don’t want this to sound like self-promotion (though I know it will, LOL), but the book that changed my life is Create Your New Reality. It was the first book I wrote, and I often tell people that this book transformed my life in so many ways. It became a self-reflection of my own journey as I dared to share my story, revealing the good and the bad, my achievements and my failures. Writing it helped me embrace the idea that “my mess is my message,” and gave me the confidence that my process could help others. Like me, many people have found themselves in dark places, and the techniques I used to heal and grow will undoubtedly resonate with and help them too.

The book offers a wide range of techniques, from finding your personal purpose to mastering control over your sexual energy. However, there are two quotes—though not my own—that I believe can profoundly impact anyone who truly grasps their meaning:

“The mind is everything. What you think, you become.” — Buddha
This quote was the foundation of my quest to understand what had gone wrong in my life and how I had fallen to my lowest point.

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” — Nikola Tesla
Once you understand that everything is energy vibrating at a certain frequency, you can recalibrate your own energy through your thoughts and emotions to align with the energy of what you desire.

These insights, combined with the techniques in the book, aim to guide readers in transforming their lives and creating their own new reality.
