Meet Sharricka Brazeal

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sharricka Brazeal. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sharricka below.

Sharricka, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

I grew up with my grandparents. I recall something that she would always say. If you are not going to show up and show out then don’t show up at all. This has always stuck with me throughout the years. Helping me through obstacles, fears, and goals.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I was born and raised in Mobile, Al (The Gulf Coast). Growing up around my grandparents I loved being in the kitchen with them. I developed a passion for food which led me to obtaining a degree in Culinary Arts. This led to me wanting a food business. I would bake and sell cakes, cookies, and different pastries. I would work do a couple of catering for church members and there family. While working in the culinary field I realized that no matter how hard or how much I worked there was something missing. More MONEY. I am currently a mother of four and as you know, we all need the money. I went on a search looking for ways to make extra money. I stumbled upon a previous coworker of mine post. I made a call, spoke with her about everything, and started my business as a Travel Consultant. I have been in business for 7 years. Through these 7 years my business has allowed me to travel more with my kids and take care of financial things that I never knew I would be able to handle. I also help other people do the same. I have given my kids experiences unlike no other. I have been able to help people who have never traveled before see the world. I want to encourage anyone to continue and press forward with your dreams. There will be ups and there will be downs, but the reward is much greater.

In year 2025 I plan on helping 15 families start their business to financial freedom. I also will have a group cruise inviting everyone to sail for my birthday in October. If you have kids bring the kids, don’t let that stop you from traveling. A little secret …….they have kids club on the cruise, so we all can relax and enjoy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

C.Y.B: Cover your business. Depending on what business you have always have documents in order to protect your business. Those documents maybe credit card waivers, liability forms, picture authorization waivers, etc. Making sure clients are filling the necessary documents. You never know when they may come in handy

Proffessionalism: Maintain it at all times. No matter who the client is or how they are acting, never let them push you out of character. Remember you are a brand. Everyone is watching you and how you conduct yourself.

Accountability: Have an accountability partner, but also hold yourself accountable for your goals. If you don’t accomplish it by your deadline reset, there is nothing wrong with that.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I will be honest, life be life in. I have had many obstacles: repossession, eviction, homelessness, layoffs, fired, broken relationships. Sometimes everything is just piling up at once and spiraling out of control. Writing things down, going for a walk, talking to a friend, lighting a candle and reading I do all these things to relax. It is easier said than done. We have to understand that somethings are out of our control, just do your best.
