We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Felix Fox a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Felix, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I’ve learned over the years to tune out the noise, no matter the reactions. It took time, but once I embraced that being outside the norm is my reality, I was able to focus fully on the value and service I’m providing.

Hi, I’m Felix Fox, a professional celebrity videographer, photographer, and pro makeup artist. My work is all about helping people elevate their beauty game and capture their best selves, whether it’s through stunning visuals, makeup artistry, or sharing tips that make a real difference in their confidence.

What’s most exciting about what I do is the transformation I get to witness. Whether it’s behind the camera or in front of the mirror, seeing someone light up because they feel truly beautiful is incredibly rewarding. My work isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about empowerment and showing people that beauty is accessible to everyone.

Right now, I’m focused on creating content that inspires and educates. I’m also working with some amazing brands to showcase products and techniques that I genuinely love and believe in. I’ve got some exciting collaborations and launches in the works, so stay tuned—it’s just the beginning!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and authenticity.

Resilience: The ability to keep going despite setbacks has been crucial. The creative industry can be unpredictable, and not everyone will see or value your vision right away. Building resilience allowed me to handle rejection, criticism, and uncertainty while staying focused on my goals.

Adaptability: This industry evolves quickly, from technology to trends. Staying adaptable—whether it’s learning new skills, exploring new platforms, or refining my style—helped me stay relevant and continue growing.

Authenticity: People can sense when something is genuine. Being true to myself and embracing what makes me different has been my greatest strength. It’s what attracts people to my work and builds trust in my brand.

To build resilience, practice shifting your mindset. See challenges as opportunities to learn, not failures. Surround yourself with supportive people and don’t dwell too long on setbacks.
For adaptability, stay curious and never stop learning. Take time to explore new tools, platforms, or methods. Keep evolving with your industry, but always align changes with your values.
To develop authenticity, spend time discovering who you are and what you stand for. Don’t be afraid to stand out—your uniqueness is your strength. Focus on creating work that reflects your true self, and the right audience will find you.

I’ve found that I work best when I’m on my own, as it allows me to fully dive into my creative process and bring my vision to life without compromise. That said, I’m always open to collaborating with people who share a similar level of passion, professionalism, and dedication to their craft.

I’m particularly interested in partnering with brands or individuals in beauty, fashion, or creative content who value innovation, authenticity, and high-quality storytelling. Whether it’s creating unique campaigns, producing visually striking content, or brainstorming fresh ideas, I’m drawn to collaborations where both sides can bring something special to the table.
