We were lucky to catch up with Rosia Parrish recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rosia, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is a challenge many women in medicine face, and I believe the very premise of this question highlights an underlying bias in our field. Women are often asked to justify their competence or recount their struggles with self-doubt, while men in similar positions are rarely asked the same. This inherent sexism in medicine is a reality I have faced and am committed to dismantling.
As a specialist in naturopathic fertility, I chose to approach my work with the conviction that my expertise and lived experiences—both personal and professional—are my greatest assets. My defining moment as a naturopathic doctor was reversing my own 15-year struggle with PCOS and secondary amenorrhea using functional lab testing and natural therapies. This profound experience not only affirmed my belief in the power of naturopathic medicine but also strengthened my resolve to support others on their fertility journeys.
Rather than succumbing to imposter syndrome, I’ve reframed it as an opportunity to challenge the biases that fuel it. Every time I provide life-changing care to a patient, guide a couple to conceive after years of infertility, or stand confidently as an expert in my field, I chip away at the stereotype that women in medicine must doubt themselves. My focus is on creating a legacy of excellence and compassion in naturopathic fertility—proving through my work that expertise knows no gender.
By embracing my strengths, continuously refining my skills, and leading with authenticity, I’ve turned what could have been a limitation into a source of empowerment. I hope to inspire others, especially women in medicine, to reject the constraints of imposter syndrome and confidently own their place as leaders and specialists in their fields.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Dr. Rosia Parrish, a naturopathic doctor specializing in holistic and complex infertility care. My passion lies in uncovering the root causes of infertility and bridging the gap between conventional fertility assistance and the personalized, integrative approaches I bring to the table. By combining advanced functional medicine testing with tailored naturopathic treatments—including herbal medicine, targeted supplement therapy, and lifestyle strategies—I help individuals and couples achieve their dream of parenthood while optimizing their overall health. My approach focuses on treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—to create the most fertile terrain possible.
What truly excites me about my work is the opportunity to partner with patients facing complex fertility challenges such as PCOS, recurrent pregnancy loss, and unexplained infertility. Witnessing the resilience of the human body and spirit and celebrating alongside my patients as they grow their families is the greatest reward. My own health journey has profoundly shaped my perspective, deepened my compassion, and strengthened my ability to guide others through both fertility struggles and overall health transformations.
Recently, I’ve had the privilege of attending the ASRM conference (American Society for Reproductive Medicine). This experience and many others keeps me at the cutting edge of fertility care, allowing me to offer innovative solutions that address the unique needs of each patient.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to providing hope, healing, and results in a way that feels deeply personalized and empowering. My practice reflects this ethos—a trusted space where science meets soul, and where patients feel truly supported on their journey to health, wellness, and family-building.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities have been most impactful in my journey: resilience, curiosity, and compassion. Resilience has allowed me to navigate the inevitable challenges and setbacks in both life and medicine. From overcoming my own health struggles, like reversing PCOS and navigating some health diagnoses, to supporting patients through their toughest moments, resilience has been my anchor. Embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and staying grounded in my “why” have been key to building this resilience. Curiosity has also been a driving force in my work. By asking questions, challenging assumptions, and seeking innovative solutions, I’ve been able to uncover root causes for my patients’ fertility challenges and stay ahead in an ever-evolving field. Prioritizing continuous learning—through conferences, reading, and exploring new perspectives—has kept me adaptable and open to growth.
Compassion has been equally important, serving as the bridge between technical knowledge and the human experience. My patients often face deeply emotional journeys, and meeting them with empathy, kindness, and genuine care is just as crucial as any treatment plan. By practicing active listening and seeking to truly understand others’ perspectives, I’ve strengthened the trust and connection necessary for meaningful work. For those just starting their journeys, I recommend investing in both professional and personal growth, developing a strong foundation of knowledge while also nurturing emotional intelligence and self-care. Be patient with your progress, celebrate small wins, and seek out mentors who inspire and guide you. Ultimately, resilience gives you the strength to persevere, curiosity keeps you learning, and compassion ensures you never lose sight of the humanity at the core of your work. Together, these qualities create a foundation for success and fulfillment in any path you choose.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is curious, committed, and open to exploring a holistic approach to their health and fertility journey. They often come to me seeking answers after feeling stuck or overlooked in conventional care, particularly when dealing with complex infertility issues such as recurrent pregnancy loss, male factor infertility, or unexplained infertility. These individuals value personalized care and are ready to dive deep into uncovering root causes, using advanced testing and individualized treatment plans to support their goals.
What truly makes someone an ideal client is their willingness to engage in a collaborative process. They are proactive in making lifestyle changes, following through on recommendations, and asking thoughtful questions to better understand their own health. Whether they are trying to conceive, seeking to preserve fertility, or navigating postpartum recovery, they approach the process with an open mind and a readiness to heal on all levels—physically, emotionally, and even spiritually.
I also work well with clients who are bridging conventional fertility treatments, such as IUI or IVF, with the integrative naturopathic care I provide. They appreciate the importance of treating the whole person and creating an optimal foundation for their health while pursuing these medical interventions. Ultimately, my ideal client is someone who is looking for a partner on their journey, someone who values compassion, innovation, and natural medicine to create the best possible outcomes for their unique family-building story.
