We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Montia Leavell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Montia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I come from a strong foundation rooted in entrepreneurship. Growing up in a family that exemplified determination, adaptability, and vision has been a constant source of inspiration for me. Their hard work not only motivates me to honor their legacy but also drives me to build something meaningful and lasting for future generations.

Losing my mother and husband just 15 days apart was the moment I truly learned the meaning of resilience. It pushed me to a new level of strength because I knew I had 12 children watching my every move. I had to show them, through my actions, that even in the face of adversity, we must never give up. Instead, we rise, remain accountable, and hold ourselves to the highest standards.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am deeply passionate about helping others, which is why my business focuses on providing a variety of services designed to assist individuals and businesses in meaningful ways. My consulting business specializes in Credit Repair, helping those facing financial hardships rebuild their credit so they can achieve milestones like purchasing their first home or car.

I also offer tax preparation services, a field I entered after working for several years as a tax examiner at the IRS. This experience gave me the expertise to assist individuals with their tax needs efficiently and effectively.

Additionally, I provide DMV services, inspired by my experience helping my mother with her appointments when she could no longer handle them herself. I understand how valuable it is for seniors or busy individuals who lack the time or ability to manage DMV tasks, so I’ve made it a priority to offer this convenience.

My business also includes immigration services, assisting individuals with the paperwork needed to become legal residents in the United States, and notary signings, ensuring important documents are handled with care and professionalism.

Each of these services stems from my genuine love for helping others. It brings me joy and fulfillment to see the positive impact I can make in people’s lives, and I am truly excited to continue serving my community in these ways.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities that define me are determination, fearlessness, and the ability to accept and grow from criticism. For anyone starting out on their journey, my advice would be to surround yourself with people who are on a similar path or, even better, further along in their journey. Learning from those who have already walked the road can be invaluable.

Investing your time and finding a mentor is essential—I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance of my mentor. They helped me navigate challenges and provided clarity when I needed it most. Lastly, trust yourself and your judgment. Believe in your vision and stay committed to your goals, even when the road gets tough.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The person who has played a significant role in my success is Constance Carter, along with my Net 7 cohort group. Constance has dedicated herself to helping women like her increase their net worth by seven figures. Her journey and leadership have been incredibly inspiring.
