We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maia Sylba. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maia below.
Maia , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I am keeping my creativity alive with every breath I take, every glance I cast, every detail I notice around me. It is something that was born with me, sometimes even stronger than I am, yet it is always present, pulsing quietly in the background, a steady force guiding me. I feel it, I live with it…it has been part of me from the very beginning. Without it, I would not be me.
My creativity is not confined to my profession; it weaves through everything I do. In the way I shop, cook, redecorate my home, and take care of myself…it is there, shaping my choices, coloring my world. It drives me to see the ordinary with fresh eyes, to turn the mundane into something meaningful. A silent force that always pushes me further, nudging me toward unknown horizons.
Where will it take me? What is the destination? I don’t know yet, but together, creativity and I are on a journey to something…something mysterious, something we will discover in time. I trust in its guidance, and I trust that, wherever it leads, it will always be a path worth walking.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
People might say that I am just an editor, the editor of Musetouch Visual Arts Magazine, but I know I am so much more than that. I am the creative force behind it, the curator, the storyteller, the one who connects artists, who listens to their visions, and works tirelessly to reveal the essence of their art. I am the voice that strives to bring out the best in them, to present their work in the most authentic, meaningful way possible. Musetouch is not just a magazine; it is a living, breathing reflection of the world of art itself, and I am the one who shapes it, nurtures it, and brings it to life.
At its core, Musetouch is a labor of love, my love for art, creativity, and the connections it creates between people. It is not a cold, professional publication, but a space filled with passion and warmth, where artists, art lovers, gallery owners, and collectors can meet and share in the beauty of the world. It is my mission to transcend all boundaries…political, social, cultural, and unite people through the shared language of art. I welcome all artists, regardless of their background, education, or status, because art, in its purest form, has no limits.
Musetouch is the largest online visual arts magazine in the world, a monumental edition that reaches across continents, with each issue spanning nearly a thousand pages. My brother, Dejan, is the quiet strength behind the technical side, design and development, without him, Musetouch would not exist.but all else…every word, every image, every detail, comes from my heart. And though Musetouch remains my beloved megazine, I feel the winds of change stirring, bringing with them something new, something exciting.
This spring, we will launch a fresh, more intimate edition—Musetouch Starlight. This new version will offer a refined, focused experience, highlighting the most breathtaking artworks, aiming to make a deeper, more significant impact on our readers. It is something I have dreamed of for a long time, and I cannot wait to see it take shape.
Alongside this, Musetouch will also be expanding into a virtual gallery, a project very dear to my heart. This will be a space where art can be experienced in its purest form, with no barriers, no limits, just beauty and creativity in its most honest expression. I look forward to sharing this new chapter with all of you, and I promise to keep you informed as we embark on this exciting journey together.
Art, in all its forms, has the power to change the world. And through Musetouch, I am honored to be part of that transformation.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I wouldn’t call them just skills; they are more like personal characteristics, qualities that I was born with, an intrinsic part of who I am. Above all, it’s my deep love for art, my unshakeable sense of beauty, and my boundless imagination. I have a passion for history, antiques, the mysterious and the forgotten, for old stories and legends that time has nearly erased. I find my soul stirred by places that carry history…castles, ancient sites, and spaces touched by emotion, what I call “places with soul.”
I am also profoundly emotional, some would say even too much so. I feel deeply, and I am an empath at heart, able to listen, understand, and connect with others, especially artists. It’s in my nature to care, to sense what’s beneath the surface and to bring that to light. Alongside this, there’s a fire within me, a passion that has always been stronger than my own will, a force that drives me to create without limits, to push beyond what I think is possible.
When I look at Musetouch, a publication that spans thousands of pages in every issue, I realize that it’s a feat that usually requires a team of hundreds. But in our case, it’s just two of us—my brother, Dejan, who quietly handles the technical side, and myself, pouring my heart and soul into every detail. It’s the result of hard work and dedication, and every issue, with its thousand pages, is proof of that commitment.
Yet, in the end, it is love, the love I have for everything around me, for people, for animals, for nature, that makes it all possible. This love is essential, a quiet yet powerful force, one that is urgently needed to create something as delicate, unique, and expansive as Musetouch Visual Arts Magazine. Without it, none of this would exist.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents, my father, whom I lost nearly twenty years ago, and my mother, have instilled in me a love that extends far beyond the human realm. They taught me compassion for all living beings, not just people, but animals, nature, and everything that breathes. I see beauty in the simplest wonders of life, and to me, life itself is the greatest miracle, the crown of all that exists.
My father, a man of noble soul, ignited my passion for art. He was a true lover of beauty, an avid collector of paintings, antiques, and books, and he found art in the most unexpected places. His heart was vast, and he gave generously, always ready to help those in need. He saw the pain of others and strived to make the world a kinder, more beautiful place. His love for beauty was not just in the things he collected, but in the way he lived, in the way he cared for others. He was a humanitarian at his core, a rare soul who understood that kindness and beauty are the true treasures of life.
My mother, a wise and unwavering woman, is my greatest inspiration. She has always been my rock, my greatest supporter, and my best friend. She taught me to believe in myself and to trust that, for those who dare to dream, nothing is impossible. Her strength, her resilience, and her unshakable faith in me have shaped the very person I am today. In her, I found not only a mother but a guiding light, always pushing me to be the best version of myself.
Together, my parents gave me the most precious gift…the ability to love and feel deeply for others. They taught me that compassion is the true essence of life, and in that lesson, I have found my purpose. Their love and wisdom remain the foundation of everything I do, and they are the most beautiful legacy they could have ever left me.
