Meet Sa’Cora Sneed

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sa’cora Sneed. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sa’Cora below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Sa’Cora with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethic from my family. Everyone in my family is very hardworking. When I was younger, my parents created a chore chart for my brother and me to earn money to go to the toy store. They were both strict about following the chores assigned on the chart. If we did not complete our chores, we were not allowed to buy any toys. This lesson taught me that if you don’t work, you won’t achieve what you want or see results. Since then, it has ignited a drive in me to work hard in everything I do in life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Accustom Lifestyle is a business that sells homemade soaps. The inspiration behind Accustom Lifestyle came from my struggles with skin allergies. As a woman allergic to many ingredients, it became increasingly frustrating to constantly read the ingredients, listed on soaps and lotions. I often had to research unfamiliar ingredients to understand their effects, which was time-consuming and confusing.

I was tired of trying different soaps only to feel itchy after showering. One day, I decided to learn how to make soap and explore the benefits of natural ingredients. When I created my first bar of soap, to my surprise, It turned out well! I continued making more soap, and my family and I began using it. We no longer experienced the dry, itchy feeling, and I didn’t break out in a rash from my homemade soap.

When I let a few family members and friends try the soap, they loved it and wanted to know when I would be making, more for them to buy. I was thrilled! I even participated in my first pitch competition during my undergraduate years and secured second place. Since then, I’ve been actively promoting my business through pop-up events in Syracuse, NY, to raise awareness of my brand.

Looking ahead, I plan to establish an online platform so that, more people can order the amazing soap I create. I am also, currently learning how to make bath bombs to expand my product offerings.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe that patience is a willingness to embrace trial and error, and self-belief is essential when starting a business or embarking on something new. This journey can be intimidating and filled with ups and downs, and you may not always see immediate results. However, it’s important to keep pushing forward; this is all part of the process.

I recommend surrounding yourself with family, friends, or a supportive community that can help you, along the way. For me, having my family at pop-up events helped me become more comfortable talking to strangers; without their support, I might not have pursued those opportunities.

As you navigate your journey, challenges will arise, and it’s normal for things to go wrong. Don’t be discouraged when they do; instead, view these moments as learning opportunities. If one approach doesn’t work, try another. Keep experimenting with different methods until you find what works best for you.

Above all make sure you, believe in your business or the new venture you are undertaking. Remember, no one will care about your success as much as you do.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am currently seeking partnerships with stores, such as boutiques and mom-and-pop shops, to add my products to their shelves or to host pop-up events. If you’re interested, please reach out to me via email at [email protected], or connect with me on Instagram and Facebook at Accustom Lifestyle.
