Meet Rochi Medina

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rochi Medina. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rochi below.

Hi Rochi , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I often think that I didn’t go out searching for my purpose; instead, it was always within me, and one day, everything just made sense. For many years, I did meticulous work where my main goal was the pursuit of well-being. At the time, I believed that well-being was solely about eating healthily and exercising. For me, that was the formula.

Years went by, and I kept believing that I was doing everything right—that is, I ate as naturally and wholesomely as possible and exercised a lot… but I didn’t feel fulfilled, let alone happy. On top of that, I was overexerting my body, pushing it to extremes that were far from healthy… and that’s when something clicked in my mind, and I knew there had to be more to feeling truly complete.

I decided to study Health Coaching at IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition), and it was truly transformative—a turning point in my life. I understood that health goes far beyond what we eat and how much exercise we do (even though they are important). We don’t just nourish ourselves with food; we are nourished by our relationships, our environment, how we manage stress and emotions, the quality of our sleep, having a purpose, and other areas of life that I hadn’t previously considered in my pursuit of well-being. And most importantly… we are bioindividual beings. My mind was blown, and at that moment, I was truly creating a new life.

I realized that a much deeper, internal work was needed—one that truly nourished me in order to achieve balance in body, mind, and soul. When I understood and applied all of this in my life, they became transformative habits that I can honestly say changed my life. Thanks to that inner fire I still feel, I had the need to share it with the world—to be an inspiration, motivation, and guide for those seeking balance in their lives and holistic well-being.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a Health Coach, and I support people on their wellness journey through 1:1 sessions. I am currently working on my cooking course, which will be launched soon, as cooking is my love language, and I believe it’s possible to eat delicious, healthy, simple meals without overcomplicating things. I create content for brands that align with my philosophy of life and share my lifestyle, habits, and hacks on social media to help all those looking for a better quality of life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

VULNERABILITY, PASSION, PERSEVERANCE + CONSISTENCY.

– “To be brave, you must be vulnerable.” One of my favorite quotes from the great Brene Brown. Being vulnerable is not a weakness; on the contrary, it empowers us, making us genuine, empathetic, and authentic in what we do.
– “Success is measured by how much fun you’re having”. Also a favorite quote from motivational speaker Gabby Bernstein. I resonate with this because I believe that if there’s no passion and fun, there’s nothing.
– Perseverance + consistency: one of the keys to success is falling in love with the process, trusting that passion, fun, and consistency will take us where we want to go. Nothing can go wrong if we keep these in mind in our daily lives.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I feel overwhelmed, my energy gets drained so much that I need to take a moment to pause and disconnect from what is causing the stress. Some self-care practices that help me are:

1. Walking: I go for a walk and breathe fresh air while listening to music, and if I’m surrounded by nature, even better. Walks help move stagnant energy and make it start flowing. My thoughts get organized, and I gain more mental clarity. Sometimes I do this with someone else, and in the conversation, saying things out loud makes everything make sense again.
2. Journaling: writing down thoughts, releases, emotions, feelings, manifestations, visualizations, and affirmations. It’s a before-and-after experience.
3. Cooking: one of my greatest therapies.
4. Conscious breathing: I practice breathing exercises to calm my nervous system.
5. Saying NO: not being available for everyone, carefully selecting where I want to go, who I want to spend time with, and if any of that doesn’t resonate with me, I say NO.
6. Resting: turning off stimuli and simply resting.
7. Being nourished by people who inspire me: whether it’s people in my life or those I admire.
8. I have a matcha.
