We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vahagn Stepanyan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Vahagn, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose has been a journey of exploration and passion. Music has always been at the core of who I am. From a young age, I knew I wanted to create something meaningful that could connect with people emotionally. Over time, I realized it wasn’t just about making music-it was about storytelling, whether through a symphony, a song, or even technology.

I’m fortunate to have had incredible opportunities, like working with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios or collaborating on award-winning projects. These moments solidified my purpose: to inspire and elevate others through creativity and innovation. My work with technology, like on my YouTube channel HelloVSTV, complements this, as it allows me to share knowledge and empower others with tools to express themselves.

For me, purpose is about staying true to my passions, constantly evolving, and using my craft to make an impact. It’s not something I found overnight-it’s something I discovered through persistence and staying open to new opportunities.

Beyond music, I also run a tech-focused YouTube channel, HelloVSTV, where I review innovative products for audio, video, photography, and computing enthusiasts. This platform allows me to bridge my passion for creativity and technology, sharing insights that help others enhance their workflows or creative projects.

What excites me most is the opportunity to blend these worlds. Music and tech are constantly evolving, and being part of that evolution—whether by creating groundbreaking music or showcasing new tools—is incredibly rewarding.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey, I believe these three qualities and skills made the biggest difference:

1. Passion and Dedication:
Passion is the foundation of everything I do. Whether it’s producing music, collaborating with artists, or exploring new technologies, my dedication to continuously improving has been a driving force. Passion gives you the energy to overcome obstacles, and dedication ensures you stay consistent even when the path gets tough. For anyone starting out, I’d say: find what truly excites you and commit to mastering it.

2. Adaptability and Lifelong Learning:
Industries like music and technology evolve rapidly, and staying adaptable is essential. I’ve always been curious and open to learning new things—whether it’s experimenting with new recording techniques, diving into cutting-edge gear, or exploring storytelling in different formats. For those early in their journey, embrace the idea that learning never stops. Take online courses, find mentors, or even teach yourself new skills—it all adds up.

3. Networking and Collaboration:
Building meaningful connections has been a game-changer in my career.
At the core, it’s about loving what you do, staying open to growth, and surrounding yourself with like-minded people who inspire and challenge you. Keep building those qualities, and the rest will follow.
