We recently connected with Bobby Blevins and have shared our conversation below.
Bobby, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from being let down when I was in college. I worked for the football program at Tennessee Tech University for seven years. I won two-CSVA FCS Video Coordinator of the Year awards. I felt like Tech would hire me full-time for the work and awards I achieved. I found out my last semester in Grad School that they would not be hiring me full-time and it really hurt. I was told by staff earlier that year that there would be a full-time position for me and it never panned out. It kind of put a chip on my shoulder to try harder in everything I do to prove I am worthy of any job. Since being declined in 2008, I have won 11 more major awards and have had some solid jobs.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As for Nolensville Drone Production moving forward we are focusing on working for more civil construction companies and covering live events. Over the past five years these two categories have been where we have succeeded the most as a company. This past year we were able to translate growth from our TN work into Kentucky. We now cover multiple company’s media needs in both states. We might expand into other states in 2025.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that helped impact my brand’s success were building quality relationships of trust that last over time, working with clients over a longer period of time, and following up with clients on how they thought the work helped or hurt their brand.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Our number one obstacle we are facing is payments for co-workers. We hire a lot of young adults out of college, who want to work in media, photography, video, and drone operations. Most of these young adults want to do this job full-time with us. We currently don’t have the income resources to hire our co-workers full-time. We just do per job payments. I would love to get to the point where we could bring on additional employees to assist with the growth of Nolensville Drone Production.
