Meet Jabez Morrison

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jabez Morrison a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jabez with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethic from my amazing mother. She is a mom to 5 beautiful children and she keeps the house up and running always pays rent on time and is always working to provide for her kids. My mom has really taught me to be a hustler and I see how hard my mom works and it pushes me to work harder because of how much she has done for me and my family.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My story well where do I begin I was born August 6 2001 coming in at 10 pounds and 8 ounces I was a big baby a big baby with big dreams that’s for sure. when I was young my mom always told me I used to walk around with this book and pray for people my grandparents had my mom and my uncles raised in the church which my mom also followed for her children. Fast forward a bit to grade 7 I remember my teacher Ms. Nakawatase asked the class I want you guys to think what it is that you want to do when you grow up and for a moment I sat there and thought, it’s like it just all came to my head at one time and I told myself I wanna make money making videos and this is before everyone was on youtube super early days to the internet so from that day I just knew that is what I wanted to do. All my life I have been a jock if you wanna call it that my love for sports is like no other I started with my first love which is volleyball and then somewhere along the road basketball took over in elementary school I did track and field triple jump and high jump was my thing but basketball by far took the lead for everything. In grade 8 we were first in Areas and Regionals we placed 3rd in high school it looked a bit different but I was honoured in my grade 12 year to receive MVP playing for Markham district high school. During my grade 12 year, I got an offer from Combine Academy to reclassify and work towards playing D1 basketball but due to financial situations, my basketball dream died. Early in my high school years, I was known for throwing parties with my friends shout out to Andre Harricharan also known as Ajhpromo and Johnathan Williams also known as Dj Jono Toronto I was always known for the name Twisted but it wasn’t until grade 12 that’s where things started going crazy. February 11, 2019, is a day I will never forget on this day I lost my brother to a car accident that took his life I was only 17 at the time and he was 19 this was the same day I got my G2 license and the last thing my brother said to me was make sure you put gas in the car later that evening my mom called me at work and asked where I was and if I was okay I was confused she told me to come home right after work which I did I got home and no one was there I was in my room playing video games and thats when my mom came knocking on the door and she said have you seen the news I said No she then said its Nathan and I froze and said no I couldn’t believe what it is she was trying to tell me I run down stairs and turn on the news and there it is my brother’s car in flames and I fell to my knees and started to cry I didn’t know what to do I did everything with my brother and now he was taken from me from that day I knew I had to keep his dream and all the things we talked about alive. During my grade 12 year in high school, I started making YouTube videos having questions of the day and asking people some pretty crazy questions and that’s when my name started to go crazy. I graduated from Markham District High School and going to attend Durham College taking Broadcasting and Contemporary Media to perfect and become better with my YouTube channel this was the closest course I could get to social media at the time. I graduated on February 11 2022 and during the COVID year, I met this amazing girl Lauren Grimaldi and we started making TikTok videos together and making relationship content we were the talk of the town our tiktok handle was called The Twisted Family. I slowly grew out of making tiktoks because now I was a little bit older and with growing up comes bills and I needed money to live she started her own fitness content page which has been going amazing and I was looking for what it was I wanted to do I was making workout videos, basketball content and then September 2023 is when I figured it out and I decided to start a clothing brand the name of my clothing brand is called Twisted Emotions and the slogan is How Do You Feel If it is one thing my brother always worried about it was his look and he always had to stay fresh so I made this clothing brand to resemble him and too also target men and their mental health and to let them know that it is okay to talk about your feelings and express that. On December 24.2024 I was in a near-death accident where I fell asleep behind the wheel and went into a ditch that launched my car and myself into the air I came out of the car with no scratches and no bruises, I thank God and my brother for protecting me and watching over me. On a positive note, I am currently a student at Humber College working towards becoming a bylaw officer graduating April 2025 and I am a clothing brand owner which the brand has been doing well I am working on some summer clothing and also a little something for the females I also take part in the stock market because who doesn’t but I am a day trader as well so I do a bit of everything for sports I am actively in the gym working on my body but I also do play in men’s leagues for basketball to keep my dream alive I currently live in Markham Ontario Canada and I am working on hopefully moving to Texas one day or for a bit to expand my brand in a different area and live out my dreams.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think everyone needs a why, why are you doing what you are doing and what is it that is driving you to keep doing that thing.

I say what is it that you naturally gravitate towards once you figure that out just work on becoming better at that one thing and lock in

For me personally, nothing is possible without god and he is the reason I am here today and nothing can be done without him

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents have been so amazing to me over the years and they still are I was definitely given a lot of freedom as a child to explore and figure out what it is I wanted to do and i thank them for that and all they do is support what ever it is i wanna do so the most impactful thing is my parents trusting in me that i wouldn’t fail them or do them wrong in any way
